Default Engine Stand bolts...where do you get them???

I have 2 engines that needed to be bolted to 2 stands.
If I am correct I need 2 M12 x 1.25 x 80 or 75 mm and 2 1/2inch bolts with nuts and washers for the bottom mounting points. The 1/2 bolts were easy to find but the m12 are not easy. The longest I found was 50mm. I do not have the transmisson bolts because I bought the engines as longblocks. I have looked at these places so far with no luck:

Ace Hardware
True Value
Richerts hardware
Kragen and autozone
Monument Car Parts
Acura of Pleasanton
Home Depot
Osh Hardware and garden

Where do you guys get these bolts??????????

We here in Clarksville, TN. have a store that sells nothing but fastners. They have any and everything you need to do that with. They can even fabricate something if needed.

Maybe you guys have a fastner shop there? You don't really want anything less than a 6 or 8 grade bolt. A motor is a pretty bad thing when it falls. I have seen stainless hardware snap on a motor stand. So do it right the first time IMO.

Go to Home Depot - buy appropriately sized or *close enough* nuts and bolts.

Now here's the rocket science part:

Buy washers, lots of them.

Use washers to manipulate length by placing washers on bolt on the non-engine side of the stand. Meaning, you stack a bunch if your bolts aren't the right size.

You don't need any specific ultra-rare-JDM bolt to mount an engine to a stand.

Here is an idea, far out, but it may work...

Try a construction supply store, and see if you cant find some lag bolts that may work.. Worst come to worst, buy some all thread, and cut it to size, and use that.

reading>me?

ingenuity > you.

You don't NEED M12x1.25. Transmission bolts + washers to fill any excess slack space. You can do it! I'm rootin' for ya!

You're right, I didn't read that portion. My mistake.

That's unfortunate you're such a dick about it, being so close to me in the bayarea (what are you, in Daly City, like 10 minutes from me) - as I not only have extra transmission bolts, but it also looks like you need an OBDI dist too, of which I also have an extra one. Oh well, burning bridges is a much better option for you, right?

haha so Im being a dick because you didnt read my paragraph and suggested something I already said I couldnt do and I pointed it out to you? I have an OBD1 dizzy but thank you for the offer if it was one. I am frustrated because I have wasted the past weekend searching for these bolts that to my avail no one has. If you would like to be curtious and work out a deal then feel free to pm me. I am just asking for suggestions of something I havnt tried.

fastenal, grainger, and mcmaster will all sell 12x1.25 bolts. They are not 10.9, so they aren't as strong as honda equips the car with stock. I would only suggest using them for mounting the block to the stand, not for mounting the trans to the car.

Thanks for the companies. Grainger has them for 7.89 each, is that the cheapest?

Before dropping 8 bucks per bolt:

https://www.hondapartsdeals.co...M++02

^ 0.66$ per bolt

You can buy any number of similar block bolts from 1-3$ from Honda. In fact, I'd just call up a dealer tomorrow and see if they have them in stock. Usually if the parts guys are cool, they'll find you the cheapest ones.

those are 8mm bolts that hold the gear casing to the clutch housing on the trans. No good for holding the engine to the stand.

Good call.

https://www.hondapartsdeals.co...E++14

21 or 19 look like they should work, 2$ or so. [actually, they might be too short as well - welp, just a bit of research on that page should find something - 2000 Si lists them, but does not provide a part reference for them, which is odd]
