engine revs up when shifting (at)
hey guys. wondering if someone could give me some help on this. i have a 97 automatic civic lx. when the transmission shifts from 2nd to third gear, it revs up 2-4k rpms depending on how fast im going. its not really an immediate problem, but i was wondering if there was a solution to this because ive heard of similar problems. thanks

this is a problem that is going to get worse and worse the longer you let it go. it needs to be addressed by a transmission shop. i worked on an accord that had the same problem and eventualy it took a ****.its an internal problem. thats my 2 cents

Re: engine revs up when shifting (6gcivic)
mine does the same thing. i figured it was just my tranny with 190K going out.
sorry to jack your thread but ...when my automatic civic is in 4th gear, around 2800rpm and i push the gas to pass..but not gunning it...just giving it enough to get up a lil ....it will go to (we'll say) 3400 when i press the gas, BUT will the back off for about a split second (sounding like i let off the gas and pressed back on) and resume back at the last rpm, why wouldit do this? i thought it was a dirty fuel filter, i changed that ....fuel treatment..blah blah. could this be the tranny too?

My american POS is doing the same thing, like the tranny is slipping out of gear for a split second before it changes to the next... Thank god I'm gonna be selling that piece of crap soon!

Re: engine revs up when shifting (LifeOnFire)
HmMM A Similar thing happend to my Mini-Van (Nissan Axxess) my mechanic dude cleaned out the transmission (like where the fluid goes and **** with some thing he had) he replaced the transmission fluid did the same thing where the oil was it and god... the Oil had just been changed 2 months earlier and when it came out it was so damn dirty... and same thing with the transmission fluid. So you might want to try that before you do anything very expensive?
