engine coolant temp sensor diagnosis help
does anyone know the resistance, voltage, etc, to correctly diagnose a bad coolant temp sensor? I have a surging idle issue and i have come to this as a possiblity, but none of my manuals give me this diagnostic procedure. I know the sensor send a signal voltage back to the ecu to represent the engine coolant temperature which, in turn, decides certain things such as idle speed, etc...any help would be appreciated. 93 cx hatch with d16z6 swap btw

Re: engine coolant temp sensor diagnosis help
Dan...that diagram is for the coolant temperature sending unit not the sensor. The OP wants information for the 2-wire sensor under the distributor.
OP: The sensor should have 200-400 Ohms resistance and receive 5 reference volts from the ECU.
