Default EK Wheel Hub Help...

Ok... So here is my problem... my wheel bearing was going bad & I knew I had to change it. I took a weekend trip to Orlando & on the way about 40 miles away it finally gave out. Started pulling to the right really bad. Anyways, I made it home, let the car in the garage for a week till I was able to work on it. When I came down to doing it I said screw it I'll take it to the shop right by my job & they'll do it there. $100 to take it out & press the new one in, my time was more valuable & I have customers to see that day (I'm a computer tech & I charge $65 an hour, so if I work 2 hours, it's paid for itself). I go to pick up the car & start driving off my brake rotor is rubbing on the caliper. It did it the whole way down the block, I go back & to make a VERY long story short, they bent my wheel hub when they pressed in the new bearing they also PROBABLY pressed the bearing in cocked sideways & that's why it's rubbing I think. I spoke to the owner of the place & he told me that I would have to go out & buy a new hub & bearing & that they would put them in for free. I was like WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! You F*$KED it up & I have to pay for it, are you kidding. W/ a straight face he told me 'Sometimes when pressing a bearing in they don't go in right & it goes in wrong. Things happen. It's not our fault.'

Whatever, I know they are @ fault & that they should pay for it, but if the owner is that much of a ***** & HE'S THE OWNER, who else am I going to go to to get my $$ back from.

Anyways, point it, I bought a new wheel hub & bearing from Honda, @ a good price to cause my boy works in the parts department (If you drive a honda, the most important thing to do is to get a friend that works in the parts department, ALWAYS BUY FROM THE SAME GUY, they always hook you up). So point is does anyone has a how to for a wheel bearing or wheel hub? Also if anyone in Miami wants to led a helping hand I would appreciate it. Thanks.

-Nick

All you have to do is take them to court - if they dont automatically reimburse you, you will win the case, hands down, no question (thats how it is with auto repair shops)

Just contact your DMV about an "Automotive shop complaint kit" - they will be happy to help.
All auto repair shops are responsible for damage they cause - thats why they pay for insurance.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">If you have talked to the owner or manager and have not reached a satisfactory settlement, contact the Department of State.</TD></TR></TABLE>

edit***
I believe I found the form for you:
http://www.800helpfla.com/mvform.html
Print the form, fill it out, take it to the shop and tell them if you do not get reimbursed for part you had to purchase, because of their causing damage, you will send the form and seek legal action.

When you do this, be sure to take your new parts to a different shop and have the bill paid by the first place, along with the price of the new parts.

Update, you know what it ended up being, the idoit that put assembly back together didn't assemble my Wilwood brakes right. Well he didn't put the shims & washers back in. He just left it w/o anything. Now I have these parts that I can't return cause my boy bought it w/ his discount & whatever... ANYWAYS... If anyone needs a wheel hub, studs, & bearing let me know.

I'm still putting in the complait though.
