Re: Dyno of My 97 Civic EX Coupe
yeah i was very skeptical of that because that is a lot of freakin boost on a high comp motor, what would yall say??? like 4, 5 or 6 at most?

Re: Dyno of My 97 Civic EX Coupe
at first, i thought i was reading your numbers wrong. in all seriousness, i know it's "your car" but what is the point of spending so much time and money into an all motor SOHC? I've seen this time and time again over the years and the one phrase that comes to mind is "trying to get all motor power out of a single cam is like trying to fill a swimming pool with a squirt gun" Just a waste of money to me IMHO.

Boost pressure depends on turbo size
Do research before throwing money at your car
If you haven't swapped another engine in your car, you should be at 127 hp @ 6600 rpm & 107 ft·lbf @ 5500 rpm.
That's the stock y8. Looks like you gained a little torque and lost horsepower lulz

i am going to get my manifold made from abel racing and get the rest from ebay because all that really would be is intercooler, intercooler piping, wastegate, boost gauge, bov,....etc.

Re: Dyno of My 97 Civic EX Coupe
x2.
He is definitely well informed about cars. I also must agree on what he said earlier in regards to the money spent/power gained ratio. 120 hp on a SOHC is pretty good for what you have done, but by just reading your mod list I can see you dropped a dime or two. Just that full valve train alone must have been expensive, let alone your full Apex'i exhaust. With that money, you could have pieced together a nice turbo set-up and hit the 200 hp mark. But all in preference.
You should have no problems with the high compression set-up with a turbocharger as long as you don't skimp on the important stuff, like an awesome tune, the right fuel, etc. Just look at a B18C. People turbocharge those motors and they have higher compression. Plus your motor would be quicker than a stock d series turbo because you have already a good platform of mods you're building from.
Good luck.

If you actually knew anything about a d series engine, let alone read any of the other posts, you would realize that those numbers are pretty good to say the least. Do us all a nice favor and find some other poor user to pick on, essentially making yourself feel better in the process.
OP, ignore the jerk.

ok here you go perfect grammar since you cant understand....your dyno posting of your engine is extremly shity..my ls that has a cracked block and not firing on two clyinders..it still puts out more power than your y8 i mean you put so much money into it and got nowere lol...i vote that you throw that engine away and put a go-kart motor in there and youll have way more power hahahaha
