Default Does axle back exhaust affect emissions?

I thought that exhaust piping behind the catalytic converter does not affect emissions. Yesterday, I was talking to a friend who does work for Speedoptions and he told me that the Mugen Twin Loop (MTL) that I just bought will not pass a smog test but his GReddy exhaust does pass. He says that the piping length and diameter affects emissions. I have the following questions:

1. Does the piping from behind the catalytic converter affect emissions? If so, what are the factors?

2. If emissions are affected, would the MTL axle back exhaust improve or worsen emissions?

3. Would a 96-00 Civic w/ a stock D16Y8 pass a smog check with a MTL axle back exhaust?

Thanks!

im not 100% sure if it effects emissions but i would bet it doesnt. I know that in jersey tho i showed up with my old car with catback on and failed for noise. So be careful with your state regulations

the exhaust behind that cat does not have anything to do with emissions. While increasing diameter and improving flow may cause slightly worse emissions, if the rest of the car is stock it will not be noticable. Smog techs don't care what kind of muffler/axle-back/cat-back is on your car.

That is true, it may not be legal as far as noise level goes.

For smog though it is fine
