Default Do louvered core resonators/glass packs flow better or worse than non-louvered??

I've been searching around and found a million different answers to this one.

So, what is it? Do louvers hurt or help performance in a resonator?

I just had my exhaust welded up (2.25" kteller with a flowmaster muffler) and it's loud as hell! So, I'm looking to quiet it down with a resonator.

I've found there are two kinds, those with louvers, and those without. Some people say that the louvers interrupt the exhaust and hurt the flow... others say that the louvers help the exhaust flow and give you more horsepower and torque.

So what is it?

I just found another article that claims that louvered core resonators can restrict exhaust flow up to 65%! That's a big claim to make when other companies are claiming they help flow.

I decided to take a look at my Tanabe Racing Medallion cat back on my other car and discovered that the resonator is in fact louvered!

I spent $500 on that exhaust and it's louvered. I'm sure Tanabe wouldn't put a louvered resonator in their exhaust systems if they hurt flow. I've seen comparisons where Tanabe made more power than many other exhaust systems out there.

If Tanabe's objective was to make the best flowing exhaust they could, why would they use a louvered core if it hurt flow?

So, louvers must be okay right??

I'm so confused!!

Most performance exhaust setups with resonators have them... I would say that they are

I think I'm just going to put it on there and not worry about it. I looked around and can't find a non-louvered core resonator for less than like $60.

Well, I'm going to get my louvered resonator installed today.

I really hope it quiets my exhaust down. Seriously, it's embarassing. I've only been driving it like this for one day and I can't stand taking it over 3k RPMs.

I don't know how some people can drive around like this all the time.

i bought my EF with a loud *** raspy magnaflow fart can. that was the first thing to go in favor of a stock exhaust. couldn't be happier.

How much should it cost for someone to weld up a simple resonator?

I mean, all they have to do is make two cuts and two welds... like 20 minutes max right?

I went to a shop on my lunch break today and, after my car was on the lift, he told me it would be $80 for him to do that!! LoL....

I told him to take my car off the lift. Even if he's the best in the industry, he doesn't deserve $160 an hour. Hahahaha.

Why are muffler shops full of dipshits?

When you find the answer to this question let me know..... this is the main reason why i bought a cheepy welder like 4 years ago... I couldn't stand the people at my local muffler shop. Now i do all my own exhaust.

i use glasspacks for both my resonator and muffler. Its a bit loud, but not obnoxious. Works great and they're cheap as dirt. Got mine for $25 welded on
