If you do a serch on this site, I'm pretty sure you'll find some how-to's. Just make sure you look in "archived" content too.

Anyways...here's mine made with a rain gutter cover from Home Depot and a little flat black spray paint.

it came out pretty well. bad lighting + camera phone = crappy pic, but you get the idea.

cost = less than 10 bucks.

I've had people say they like my stock grill with no eblem, rather then a CTR style...but I like the CTR style, so I'll probably just a DIY job in the summer.

don't just cut it out and glue on a grill
theieves can easily just pull out the grill (or not even if you don't have one) and pull the hood release and break in

Heres two pics of mine...it's not that great, and the pictures suck too. I cut up my stock 2000 grille.

I had some mesh my friend got from ebay, it was like $5 or as stated before rain gutter guard works as well.

You can see the inner area isn't painted either, but oh well.

ironic you say that, i'll try to post some pics.. but that happens so often.. they pop the hood and disable the alarm.. well i jb welded 4 razor blades so if some **** ever does try to pop the hood via smashing the grill they will not get very far....

That's one reason I went back to my stock grille vs the DIY one with flimsy weak mesh. I added a semi thick layer of mesh behind the stock grille and it seems to be holding up pretty well. Might try wrapping the hood release cable with some barb wire.

There's something called the hood release inside the cabin near the driverside kickpanel And in the event if I needed to pop the hood at the latch I'd know that it was there..

Maybe they dont want to pay $30 for a cheap peice of plastic they can make and customize themselves for $1-5.

I've seen the real CTR grill, and its not worth the 160. U guys are essentially doing the same thing honda did, and cut out the plastic in the middle and sandwich a metal mesh inbetween. I would have done the same, but i got a free plastic one, so i said what they hell and just used it. I guess its better for me in case i decide to sell the car i can throw on the stock grill.
