Distance between brake pad and rotor
Can anyone tell me how much space there is supposed to be between the brake pad and rotor on a 1996 Civic LX? Looking at it with the naked eye it appears that the pad is riding the rotor and there is no space, which leaves me to believe that the caliper or piston is frozen and the pad will wear out prematurely. This is the same for both of the front brakes. This is also the same for all 4 brakes on my brothers acura. Not sure if this is something that I need to worry about or not. Any insight would be great.

Re: Distance between brake pad and rotor
There should be no space between visibly. If there were it'd take seconds for your pads to touch the rotors, most likely making you crash.
