The main difference is that the D16Z6 is OBD1 and D16Y8 OBD2

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by kaiba &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The main difference is that the D16Z6 is OBD1 and D16Y8 OBD2</TD></TR></TABLE>

That can make tuning much easier and more effective.

Besides what's stated above,

The Y8 makes a wider powerband usually for whatever reason.

The Y8 has a larger and more sought after intake manifold.

My friend is looking for a Y8...he is not looking for a Z6. because he wants to pass emissions and sell his 97 ex coupe and his miata to buy a G35 coupe.

Some of the plugs are different.

The y8 has a knock sensor.

We threw a blown up Y8 from a parking garage 5 stories high. The Z6 i blew up got sold for $125.

Sift through the unnessacary garbage, and I actually have some good info in that post.
