del sol hydraulic steering rack compatibility
Hi everyone, i looked in the faqs but there was no info that solved my question...
i'live in south-east mexico so bear with me, ok down to business:
I got hands on 2 del sol si one manual and the other automatic, unfortunately del sols are uber rare in mexico because they were manufactured in jp and laws won't allow them to be legalized normaly, but for 6 months they allowed any car to be legalized, and thtats how i got mine...
So, them being that rare, parts are even more scarce, and now i found myself in the need of a power steering rack, but can't find any del sol one, is there any other steering rack compatible? (Integra, civic...) cause if not
thank you in advance

Integra 94 to 01 and civic 92-95 should fit on 93-97 del sol's as per Amazon's compatibility chart. You can always ask the seller if you are in doubt.
If your power rack is mechanically intact except for leaks, you may just convert it to a manual rack and save yourself $ for a replacement.

Re: del sol hydraulic steering rack compatibility
ok, i got a hold on a 92-95 civic power rack, and they are different, so its a no-go with the civic power rack.
the rack on the left is the 92-95 civic power rack and the one with the shoe its the del sol one...
the rack is not just leaking, it also skips some teeth from time to time when turning on either direction, so i need to replace it.
i was wondering if i can get the parts to rebuild it?
EDIT: here is a picture where the difference is best appreciated

Re: del sol hydraulic steering rack compatibility
I dont know where is the mistake. I checked amazon for replacement part and it's showing that it fits 92-95 civic and 93-97 del sol si.
Try adjusting the rack guide screw on the old rack. If that doesnt fix the tooth skip, try measuring the mounting points for the new rack. If they fit, you should be good. If it doesnt fit, open both rack to compare the internals.
Perhaps someone with more experience on the delsol will chime in.

Well, tried, did not fit, and the pinion on the del sol rack is clearly longer than the one on the civic rack
