del sol door won't open from outside.
My driver side door of my del sol wont open from the outside. For the last 3 months I have been opening the passenger side - reaching through to the inside handle for the driver side door to open and then walking around the car to get in. This is a huge pain.
I have a book for the car but it only shows how to take apart a standard civic door and not a del sol.
Have you seen this problem before? How do I get the door apart to fix the outside door latch?
Thanks in advance.

wont open from the outside eh? does it feel loose or way different then from before it was broken? or does it just feel normal and simply doesnt work...
i know for sure on the inside that when either the handle or the door lock stops working that its because somethings up with the pull cable or pull bar that is attached to either
but im pretty sure the outside handle is more complicated and heavyduty.. you may want to try taking off the interior panel of the door to see if you can get to the insides of the door to investigate if anything might be wrong
otherwise just take it to a shop somewhere (i know a place in LA that can for sure fix it, for cheap too) but yeah... investigate it by yourself first

It can be the outer handle broke that broke or the linkage clip broke. Take it apart you will see the problem. you can take the outer handle by just removing the 2 10mm bolts. The door panel is easy to remove you should be able to figure it out.

Re: (eg2solsi500)
i know your exact problem. I had it happen to me just recently. First off let me explain the problem. Basically your door handle has to bars connecting the handle to the hinge area. One rod for the handle and then one for the lock. The door handle rod looks like a sideways "Z" or lighting bolt. And over time the light bolt got smaller. SO basically when you pull the door handle it does not pull the rod enough to open door.
FIX:
first take off your door panel, if you dont know how to do it that then dont go any further lol. just pm me. after that there are 2 bolts that hold on your door handle. there is a black cap on the end of the door, both bolts for the door handle should be easy to take off with a long extension. There is a hole for each bolt so he can remove it easily, if its not easy you need to keep looking for right hole. TIP i would also suggest masking the door on the outside around the door handle, so you do not scratch your door.
Now you have your door handle out, the lock rod can just slide out just tug on it some. Now the middle rod is the door handle one. You want to put your finger on the part the spring part is around so it does pop out. Then tug on where the door rod meets the door handle. Its hard but it should just pop out might have to use some pliars to bend the plastic pieces holding the end of the rod on there.
After u take it out turn that piece 3 full turns to the left. (counter-clock wise). Then reinstall and make sure it works.
ALL DONE.
