Icon6 Definitive(?) 1996 Honda ITR brake setup part list!

So parts lists for the 1996 ITR brake setup exist, but most of them are disorganized and difficult to read. I wanted to create one that can hopefully get posted to the top of this section permanently to help future users of this setup. Everyone knows it isn't commonly used any longer, but I suspect there may be a slight bump in usage as classic JDM wheels are seeing a resurrection and most of them were commonly drilled in 4x114.3.

Brake rotors
Front: No factory Honda replacement exists
Rear: No factory Honda replacements exists
Options:
1. Purchase front and rear Acura Integra (94-01) brake rotors and have the bolt pattern redrilled to 4x114.3 (4.5") and centerbore enlarged to 64.1mm
2. Purchase BNIB blanks from Fastbrakes.com here (front) and here (rear).
3. Purchase aftermarket rotors from RHDJapan here.
4. A "big brake" upgrade for this setup (front) is to utilize 1992-1995 Honda Prelude VTEC rotors (11") with a variety of caliper options. The common setup includes USDM 2000-01 Acura Integra Type R calipers. Here is a list of other calipers with the same(?) designation as the above ITR caliper. In addition to the above listed rotor and caliper there are two caliper bracket options. One is the 23T bracket which I believe is standard on the USDM ITR caliper. This bracket will require shims (hardened washers only) to space the bracket properly. Another apparent option is to use the 25T bracket which will not require shimming, but may be more difficult to find. Write-up with photo's can be found here.
5. Another "big brake" upgrade for this setup (rear) is to use 2000-01 Acura Integra Type R rear calipers and brackets with a 1993 Honda Accord rear rotor. This is a direct bolt up with no modification needed. Write-up with photo's can be found here.

Calipers
Front: 1994-01 Acura Integra's share the same front caliper assembly
Rear: 1994-01 Acura Integra's share the same rear caliper assembly
Note: Larger caliper options are noted above

Pads
Front: 1994-01 Acura Integra's share the same front pad
Rear: 1994-01 Acura Integra's share the same rear pad

Wheel/ hub bearings
Front: 1994-01 Acura Integra's share the same front wheel bearing (Obviously any car that uses the same bearing as the Integra will also work with the 4x114.3 setup)
Rear: Best stateside option available requires modification. The 1998-2002 Honda Accord DX 4-DR rear hub assembly is similar to the '96 setup in several ways, but differs in two small ways. These similarities and differences are discussed here in a thread I created. This setup has been proven to work by member cvcrcr99 and info/pics are posted here.

Others items such a ball joints, tie-rods, trailing arm bushings, etc. will share compatibility with the 1994-2001 Acura Integra.

I noted the list is "definitive," but I stand to be corrected if there are errors or necessary additions. Please PM me with the corrections or additions so as to not muddle the thread. Hope this helps!

So a simple question:

If I want to just replace my rear rotors, can I use the 93 accord rotors (OR that rotor only works in the big break set up? Thanks)

The '93 Accord rotor is larger than the ITR rotor and will not sit properly in the caliper. I needed rear rotors and had to resort to purchasing them from Fastbrakes which I was disappointed to find was only a modified Integra rotor. It does the job just fine, but I could have had the same thing done locally myself. My fault for not asking.

Thanks for putting this together!! I too have had to piece information together from here and there. Been on the fence for awhile between a 4x100 rear conversion or a full 4x114.3 swap mainly just for the wheel option, but now i think im just gonna go 4x100 for parts availability as its still a daily. Thanks again!!!!

Thanks for that info Russ, so basically I can buy any blanks and have em re-drilled and it'll be the same as buying them from fastbrakes?

^ You got it! The centerbore must be enalrged and change the PCD.

P.S. There is a set of 4x114 ITR front rotors for sale in the Florida section at the moment.

P.S.S. Check out my wheels for sale. 4x114.3 and would look gorgeous on your 'R.

Default Re: Definitive(?) 1996 Honda ITR brake setup part list!

here's my dilemna,

When I got my car from Japan, it needed new rotors, they weren't the worse but they aren't going to last much longer since I've been daily driving it lately. I can't seem to find any rotors...cept the ones on that website. Thats like 200 for both front and back..secondly.. I want new rims..I can't stand 15 I want 16 or 17's. I can't find anything for my car locally..no one has 4x114.3 soo rare as you know..

hence 200 + 1500-2000 for decent rims (NO TIRES) (Not even top line) from what I've come across with fitting.

So I'm thinking doing the 5 lug swap..since it'll come with rotors.. and the options for oem rims and aftermarket will open up tremendously and I can add value to my ITR when I decide to sell it.

Cheapest I've found so far is 800 for the full swap

So 800 + 1000 - 1200 (Many with Tires mounted) for rims..seen super nice ones for better prices all across the board.. so roughly same price..but I will be able to get higher brand rims..or newer OEM rims and also, will be easier to replace rotors in the future since who knows the future of 4x114.3

thoughts?

I could use some help.... just purchased 96 spec ITR DB8 (4door) 4x114.3 four wheel disc conversion for my 93 EG hatch,
Included was rotors, calipers, front knucks, rear trailing arm, ebrakes, 40/40 non abs prop valve.
I understand I need 98-01 ITR or GSR 1" power booster and Master cylinder in order to bolt on and utilize the ITR brakes to fullest, I've used the search tool and researched ALOT but cannot get a definitive answer, all parts guys out here are clueless, was the 98-01 GSR or ITR USDM or CDM power booster and master cylinder available in 1" non abs ?
And if not, Can i get away with the ABS booster and Master cylinder in this setup, or would I need to get a 98-01 non abs master cylinder and convert to manual brakes?
I see JDM spec 98-01 ITR 1" boosters and Master cylinders on ebay for around $150, but as lines are on opposite sides, I would prefer to use a USDM or CDM if they were made NON ABS, in other words... HELP lol

Yes I am very much a noob, yes I am aware disc conversion has been covered many times but through all my searching I couldn't find the definitive answer, yes I understand that 15/16 will work with more pedal play, but I'd rather use the correct part for that setup, spent the money on type r, just want to do it proper.

LOL well, one guy saying it works while explaining how ABS works, yet fails to mention the rest of the gear required for ABS won't be there doesn't strike a lot of purchasing confidence in me. Local wrecker has a 98-01 1" booster and MC but it is ABS, don't want to pay wrecker prices (kinda high out here) for a used set up that isn't gonna work right for the ITR disc conversion. lol its the only bloody part I am unclear on, once I learn the secret of the mighty Power Booster required for my ITR setup on my NON ABS EG I can totally check out your rims lol. Pretty sure my 14" steelies aren't gonna fit over the ITR rotors

Well, I am using a 1" pre-'98 RS MC with what I believe is an Integra ABS BB. It did require a slight bending of one of the lines (passenger side), but I did this by hand. Because the passenger side has a different sized thread on the MC compared to the stock EG MC I removed the fitting from the Integra line and applied it to the EG line. This wasn't difficult but it required some time and patience (and a flare tool from your local parts house). Does that make sense?

Question, has anyone purchased a caliper rebuild kit for both front and rear calipers ?

The other ITR 4 x 114.3 conversion tech thread states on the last page that the2006 civic calipers are the same and rebuild kits work, local parts store has 2006 civic front caliper rebuild kit but rear parts lookup says also 2000 USDM ITR is same caliper as 2006 Civic for the rear, I was under impression the 98-01 USDM ITR had different calipers in rear than the 96 spec caliper.
Just don't want to order the wrong kit, does it sound like the parts guy is incorrect?

Calipers are the same as 94-01 Integra. Rebuild kits for those calipers will work.

Fantastic, i knew pads were same just wasnt sure a calipers were. what Both front and back rebuild kits are available locally, when I called he said he had 94-01 integra as well. Nice to know if it doesn't work out tho that there are tons of calipers on Craigslist here.
Before finding it at a local Lordco Parts, the Honda dealership here laughed at me "caliper rebuild kits are a thing of the past " lol ok... Anyone got a clue why he would say that? Lol just curious.

Sounds like because he is uninformed. Rebuild kits are still available from the dealer.

Just for fun, I will post up my experiences. Upgraded last weekend

4 x 114.3 set up - otherwise I wouldn't be posting in here
1" MC
ABS deleted (not sure if that matters)

Front:
ITR front brakes / 25T brackets
Prelude vtec rotors
ITR pads
3mm wheel spacer (when using OEM 96 spec ITR wheels)

Rear:
RSX calipers / brackets (flipped upside down, on opposite sides, swapped e-brake bracket from stock calipers)
93 Accord rotors
ITR pads
BTW... running 03 Accord drum brake rear hubs thanks to Russ's research

Everything fit with no problems. I wish I went with 5mm spacers up front though :/

Front

Rear

Awesome to see! From what I've read you can use the 23T(?) bracket and it won't require spacers.
