Default A Decent Bulb - H4

I was wondering what a good bulb, available at either normal stores or at tuner shops, that provides good light output.

Don't say:
Osram Silverstars - not available domestically
Phillips Vision+ - not available domestically
Sylvania Silverstars - Hate Em

I'm looking to pick them up today at a store. I don't really want to wait a week for them to get to my house via the interwebs.

TIA.

PIAA isnt all that great-- simple physics, the more mediums (coating, glass what have you) light has to pass through the less lumens, the less bright it will be.

I use GE nighthawks, theyre great bulbs, comparible to the Philips VisionPlus I had before, and much easier to find at your local walmart. Unlike many other bulbs out there, they have no coating on it so you have maximum brightness and lumen output.

I had Nighthawks, and really liked them. I think I'm gonna get some nokya's, just for the look for now, until winter hits, and probably put in my nighthawks again.

nighthawks over here too.

read a write up by consumer reports and Nighthawks outperformed all the other "name brand" headlight bulbs (silverstars, cool blue...etc). the Silverstars 'looked' the brightest but suprisingly perfomed almost at the bottom of the list in terms of light output. i will try to dig up the article. PIAA's are a waste of money IMHO. i had a set and they lasted me 2½ months.
PIAA=shens.

Yeah, PIAA look good .... but they burn out monthly. Good thing they have a waranty and you can get another set in 3 more months, and have those burn out in a month

But yeah, I probably just end up going to wallys and getting nighthawks. I'm too lazy to drive to any of the tuner shops.

PIAAs are overpriced pieces of **** that burn out within 6 months.

I've also run Silverstars and Cool Blues and preferred Cool Blues over the Silverstars.

Actually, it's recently been brought to my attention that Strauss Auto sells Philips Vision Plus, though I haven't confirmed this personally. I also can't state whether the Vision Plus sold here performs as well as its European counterpart. Sylvania XtraVision is another decent option that can be found at most auto parts stores. I know you stated that you wanted something that is locally available, but ordering from Autolamps-Online is really painless, and the shipping is quite fast.

I checked phillips site this morning, and the Vison+'s are still only sold in europe.

I'm fine with Nighthawks. I'll just go to wallys tonite. 24-hrs ftw

Also, how "fast" are we talking about in terms of their shipping? I know they're located in europe, and I'm on the west coast.

Mine arrived in less than a week, if I recall correctly. I'm on the East Coast, but either way, it definitely shouldn't take very long for them to arrive to you.

Ah, I just checked their main site, no the US site, and when I went to "find a retailer" it only gave me european countries.

Settled on Nighthawks. Going to order some GE Rally and GE Gold later, so I have some summer bulbs and winter bulbs.

Indeed it's not. But if you bothered to read the thread, I was looking for a performance headlamp replacement, not something that looks "sweet" ... You may think they're bright, but they do not illuminate as well as an uncoated bulb. Try doing some research

And you make some lofty assumtions that just because I told you what's up on a forum that I have self issues and that I'm an unatractive person. That's pretty sad that you'd sink to personal insults just because I said I didn't like your lightbulbs and pointed out that they were a poor choice considering the content of the thread.

You posted crap, and I gave you crap. Go play on some other forum if you don't like how people act here.
