Default D16Z6 Transmission and D16A6 transmission question

Did both the D16z6 and the D16a6 engines come with the same exact transmisisons? What cars did the D16a6 come in? Were both of them hydraulic transmissions?

About two years ago I had to get a new transmission for my 94 EX coupe. I picked up a hydraulic transmission labeled "S20", which I thought was standard for all EG civics/1.6 litres. The only visible difference was that the base that connects the axles seemed to be wider than the original S20 tranny by about 2 inches. All the original axle splines also matched perfectly.

I'm having a lot of alignment problems now and I'm just trying to figure out if it's the problem with this current transmission. What do you people think?

Your problem is you are using the wrong tranny. Maybe it has a different design, meaning longer, out to the sides that is. Thus pushing your knuckle out >> causign alignment problems.... This is just a thought, but it makes a lot of sense.
