Default D16z6 itb build

hi all

Im after a bit of advice

I have a d16z6 with
TIK P29 piston kit
ported and polished head
full gaskit kit with a treble layer steel head gasket
comp zex stage 2 cam
brain crower stage 2 valve springs and retainers
ARP head studs
ARP rod bolts
full race bearing kit
ADJ cam pulley

and I am planning on running this engine on some OBX ITB's , I am planning on getting it mapped in the early part of next year !
I would just like to no what / if any one has had any problems if you have done a build like this before , also what injectors , fuel pump ? would be recommended ? ive built my old b16 before for a potential turbo build , and a high comp engine is new to me . ive just got it (fresh build) so just trying to find some advice / tips of people who have done this before.

thanks

All motor d-series=bigger waste then a "stanced car" WHY all that money spent and a stock b20 would still put you down. fuel pump 255lph injectors 750cc EMS Hondata s300. Also obx is along the lines of "blox" or "godspeed" cheap crap there's even a thread about obx itb's not fitting and how to correct it. did you at least over bore or no ?

Walbro 255 and 310-440cc injectors

How are you tuning it?

DSM 440's will be easy and cheap. That's the injector for your setup. A Walbro is honestly overkill. Even if that Blox kit manages to fit, your tuner is going to have a hell of a time getting them to work correctly - they all need to be unified correctly, and your tuner will need to do individual cylinder tuning if you expect to see the full capabilities of it. That means a lot of expensive dyno time getting it to all work correctly.

ITBs are good for one thing - throttle reaction. You really won't see much power out of that setup, but if you bolted up a disco potato and a custom charge chamber, you could see a really fun to drive car.

ITB's will see minimal gain over a stock intake manifold, but if you aren't going turbo, go with the ITB's. throttle response is one of those things that doesn't increase horsepower, but will decrease ET's and lap times. A fraction of a second every shift adds up to a few seconds at the end of a race, which could add up to a win. It just depends on how highly you value those seconds. I would personally never run Junk2 hardware. Golden Eagle and Edlebrock both make better pieces.

Honestly, the 440's are overkill for a relatively stock D16 - they're just cheap as hell. You could also source some RDX injectors (330, IIRC) and those would work just fine for you.

I'd like to see what the d series puts down on the dyno after the itb's. And B_Swapped93 has a good point. But then again this is your car.

Like I said, ITB's are a zero-sum kind of thing. Just having them won't magically increase your WHP, but the tuning required to properly use them will squeeze out more power. ITB's are more about throttle response than they are power.

240 for the Z6 (and most D16 motors), 190ish for the Y7.

^david is correct.

dont let people diss the Dseries. it can be fun. fastest? no.
cheaper yes. obx itbs get used alllot. you do have to finagle them but then can work and work jus fine.
with itbs you need a good cam though to justify it. spray?

They can work, but they are OBD2 injectors, so you'll have to modify the necessary wiring for that. Also, they are a hair shorter than the stock Z6 injectors, so you'll have to find a way to shim them.

Why not sell/part out the engine and get an LS? Or get a cheap turbo kit for the D and forget about ITBs

No. H-series injectors range from 290 to 325. S2K injectors flow 360cc.
