Default D16Y7 IACV block-off plate

I've had it. My IACV is busted, and my other IACV somehow broke and I can't keep either of them working on my engine for more than 20 minutes. I've tried replacing them, cleaning them, cleaning the throttle body, adjusting the idle screw every-which-way, I reset the ECU religiously and then do the 'IACV learn', I've bled the ever-loving **** out of my coolant system, and my idle still is spastic as hell.

Unless I block off the IACV with my thumb. Then everything is hunky-dory.

Other than idling poorly when the engine is cold and it's cold out, what would be the downsides of fabricating a block-off plate for the IACV?

Bleed the cooling system properly, and also troubleshoot the TPS and ECT sensor.
