Default D16y7 Build project

I have a 97 civic DX y7 head with a 5speed tranny. Brought it to the track, pulled of a 16.5 and I didnt even launch it. So the way it sits, its slow regardless. Now before I get going, I want to say I am not trying to build a hot rod. I would love to just pull 14s reliable and call it a day.

I have done alot of searching and alot of reading. Alot of good knowledge here and on other forums.

I wanted to try to leave the block installed inside the car but it seems that is not happening. This will be an NA car with the possibility of me breaking out my dsm turbo stuff out of the garage and possibly bolting up a t25 turbo but that comes later down the road. I am specifcaly aiming towards the build of the motor. No I will not be putting a 50trim or 57trim t3/t4 on it later so I would like to keep the compression in the 9s

I was looking at doing a Y8 head swap giving me a 9.96:1 compression. Swapping the head, ECU, intake manifold, and TB. I am now looking for pistons. I want to keep the stock bore and leave the block inside the car but again, it seems removing the block to do the work correct way seems to be ideal. I am a HUGE fan of eagle rods. Taking suggestions on piston/rod combo as well as rings and bearings. I plan to stick with the stock crank. Not sure if I should sleeve the block or just use block gaurds. As far as tuning, I want to use just a V-AFC. No need for crome, hondata, aem, etc. I know tuning is key but I do not plan to change that much other than raising compression and maybe boost 8psi down the road after the build. probably a wally 190 with 240cc injectors and when I boost, 450cc injectors. As far as the valve train, I will do a light port of the y8 head, 3 angle valve job, new seals, possibly a bigger cam and better spring/retainers. I am trying to keep this 100% daily driven and it must pass insection with OBDII so nothing extreme. I am sure you guys have questions for me so I look forward to the help and opinions.

BTW: No I will not be using vitara pistons. I am not about doing things cheap

After doing a little homework, I decided to keep the stock bore as long as the walls look good (which I am sure they will) thus leaving the block installed during the build

SRP pistons (149205) standard bore, 10:5.1 compression (y8 head swap giving me a 10:8.1 compression) with the ring set JXCOF4-2953-2

Eagle rods (CRS5394H3D) H beam

Now I wasnt sure if this kind of compression would be to much to boost 8psi from a T25 turbo later down the road. Its possibly yes but I am going to be using a Vafc to tune as I cannot get rid of OBDII for inspection reasons. Any suggestions?

I have basically all the parts minus the internals. Head is at machine shop and just waiting on a decision. Not sure if there is a lower compression piston like a 9.5 or what not.... any ideas?
