Default d16y5 with a d16y8 head?

i have a 99 civic hx. d16y5 block and i am thinking about puting a d16y8 head on it. I heard there was more complication in putting a y8 head on a hx block for some reason but iam not exactly sure what it is? i was wondering if anyone knew if the car would run fine with a complete y8 head and 99 ex ecu or if there really will be more to it? THANKS!!!

no complications. use the ex ecu and it'll run fine. oh ya, and make sure u match the timing belt with the head. not sure they're interchangable.

you'll have a few extra plugs leftover (EGR), you'll need a obd2a d16y8 ecu.

hx harness has a 5wire o2 sensor, you'll have to do somerewiring for that.

what's the mileage on the d16y5?

all hx's are obd2a

i think it has around 40,000 on the block. The guy who i bought it from put the motor in a year before i got it so thats an estimate. What year ex would have the obd2a ecu? and what exactly will i have to do with the wires? and thanks by the way....also, will my cr be low or will it be about 9:1.. i heard doing the y8 head to y5 block will create a low compression ratio because the way the hx pistons are shaped?

96-98 = obd2a ecu.

what are you doing with the hx head? I may need a cheap cylinder head to get this car running
