Default D15B7 SWAP to a Del Sol SI

Hi, I have two Honda Del Sol, one is a Del Sol S with a D15B7. The engine on this one is in good shape and runs strong and gets about 37 mpg but the body of the car has rust and a lot of dents all around. The other one is a Del Sol SI with a D16Z6 and get about 30 mpg. The body is in better shape and don't have any rust.

What I want to do is to put the D15 on the SI and sell the S with the d16.
Will the d15 work with the ecu on the SI and will the d16 work with the ecu on the S? I know vtec wont work but I don't care about vtec.

I could probably just swap the ECUs too but wont I have to rewire all the controls for the cruise control and power mirrors? (SI has those options and S don't) I don't want to mess mush with wiring.

Please let me know if you know the answer. Thanks

Why not sell the S with the D15 for 1-1.5k, sell your d16z6 swap for $200 and just buy a B-series motor.

Personally I find the d16z6 a really slow motor. Can wait for a weekend to drop my b16 in the Sol.

I don't want to invest any money on both cars that's why I just want to do the swap and sell the S and keep the SI until I can afford a much newer car that does not require maintenance every month like this 2 I have. After that I will sell the SI.

I been researching and I have found out that the d15b7 uses the p06 ecu and the d16z6 uses the p28. And from what I have seen the only difference between the two ecus is the vtec.

What about putting the d15 block with the d16z6 head on the SI?

Will i need to buy any parts like head gasket or more?

Just swap the ecu's with the correct motor. You won't have to do any rewiring. If you're stuck on swapping engines. I personally would do what they said above. Just sell the s model and sell the d16z6 and buy a B series.

^Correct. Swap motor and ECU. Done. All the extra features are independent of the ECU.

*I'd like to note that if there is nothing wrong with the Si transmission you should consider using that in conjuction with the D15B7 engine for slightly improved gearing. Cost you nothing since you got both already.

Just wondering, What maintenance do you do every month on both of these cars?

Normal maintenance every old cars needs. For example on the Del Sol S, I already had to replace the slave and master cylinder and the clutch broke while driving. replaced both axles, wheel hub, timing belt other belts, water pump, muffler, when i first bought it I had to buy some interior parts that were missing and one of the roof handles broke and had to replace it. On the green one I already replace the AC condenser because it was leaking and the clear paint is coming off, needs a new hood and windshield and not sure is the timing belt has been replace so i might have to replace them soon. I also have to replace all other belts.

I know newer cars are not perfect and sometime I have to replace one or two things but not like and older car.
