Default D15B7 Rebuild

I have a 93 del sol that originally came with a blown D16Z6 engine that I swapped to a cheap D15B7. A year later and the D15 is beginning to burn a lot of oil (1-1.5qt/week) and I'm planning on rebuilding this sucker (with the D16 head) on a 3day weekend that's coming up. Can i simply get a D16 rebuild kit and will this work with the D15 bottom end? Do I need a D15 rebuild kit, plus the D16 specific stuff? What's the best way to approach an entire D15 rebuild if I'm planning a D16 head swap? I kept the D16 head but the block was wasted (and now scrapped). I'd like to use the D16 head so I can hookup the loose VTEC plugs and hopefully turn off this damned check engine light finally. I'm aiming for cheap as possible as I'm in college and am broke as sh*t (I will probably get an ebay rebuild special). Thanks.

I see that the part #'s for main bearings are different between D15 and D16 but I also read that they use the same crank? I'd really prefer to buy just the one kit to save some cash but I def want to check before I pull the trigger.

Will this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/D16Z6-Honda-...e01115&vxp=mtr

Edit : Also - can I use the valves from my D15 head on the D16 head?

Edit : Sh*tty craigslist engine

Default Re: D15B7 Rebuild

Am I correct to assume that the only internal difference between a D15B7 and a D16Z6 are the bearings? If this is the case, then I will order a D16Z6 rebuild kit and an extra set of D15B7 rod/main bearings.

I'm figuring $285 for the D16 kit (no-pistons, rings, wp, op, t-stat, plugs, gasket set, etc) and $50 for D15 bearings.

Is this a good plan? yes/no?

This isn't the coolest build under the sun but a little input from Honda-gurus would go a long way. : ) thanks
