Default d15b7 powerloss/bogging + starting up & immediately dying?

So i've been having this problem ever since I replaced the spark plugs and installed a new air intake. I've taken the plugs out and inspected them and they look fine. I've switched back to the old intake and the problem persists. When I started driving it it would have extreme bogging when I gave it gas in low RPM's. It would die if I let it idle low enough.

Since then here are the things i've done:

New fuel pump
New plug wires
New cap/rotor
New main relay
New coil
Remove the exhaust (car started up right away and ran for a few minutes after removed, but died shortly after).
Cleaned the IACV with WD-40
Tested with p75 and p28 ecu's

I'm stumped here guys. The car will start up and die immediately, and I really need some more help before I drop some more cash.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Many thanks!

Fuel filter?
Clogged exhaust/cat?

I'll check the fuel filter today.
We removed the exhaust and it started right away and ran longer then it ever has before, but continued to bog and eventually die and not start again.

Check ignition timing? Spark plug wire order is correct?

Update: Brand new fuel filter. Ignition timing is good. Spark plug wires correct order.

I replaced the IACV with another one from a junkyard after cleaning it, and it started up and ran perfectly fine. While test driving it still had the throttle bogging, but eventually it died and would not start again. The new IACV I put in started to make the same whining/buzzing/humming noise as the other one.

Am I somehow frying IACV's? Are they stuck open? I don't know much about them, or how to check voltage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any codes stored in the ecu? check for cels, doesnt sound like iacv thats for sure, just a solenoid (plunger) that move up and down to control airflow around the throttle plate when its closed. Im sure u could apply voltage to it and look for movement but dont know what pins to use. Definitly check the plug wire order, its so easy to **** that up. I did it the other day. if u worked on it and it runs different afterwards, then 99% of the time u caused the problem. Happens to me all the time

No CEL's.

Just double checked the firing order to be completely sure, it's right.

It can't be a coincidence that each time I unplug the IACV and try to start it, it starts... why could this be?! I threw a different one on and it started up just fine, but also had the bogging issue when I gave it gas while driving.

I need some serious help, none of my buddies have any clue.

Thanks!

This is a long shot, but do you have a friend with the same motor whose ECU you could borrow?

if u crack the throttle while cranking its the same thing as the iacv working, so i dunno. yeah try another ecu

I've tried p75 and p28 ecu's and same problem has persisted, but haven't tested with a po6. I can pick one up locally for around $65. I just hate spending money on things that doesn't fix the problem.

When you start it and it dies do you get a really bad gasoline smell? By any chance did you unplug the map and tps sensor connectors installin the air intake?

Yes, I do smell gas.

TPS and map sensors are still connected.

I'm not asking if they are connected, I'm asking if you disconnected them installing the new air intake?

Just a quick one, what about spark gap? Would that make a change?

spark plug gap wouldnt affect the car as much to turn on and shut off immediately ... fuel lines ...??? fuel injectors ...??? timing ...??? air / fuel ratio ...???

Just read a thread recently where the plug gap being too small resulted in similar symptoms.

Oh, I understand! Yes, as a matter of a fact I did unplug them just to try and troubleshoot things. They are plugged back in now. The air filter is currently off of the car.

Aren't NGK spark plugs pre-gapped?

It's just really strange, because the car will start for a split second and then die right away.

It's very possible, if you had them both disconnected at the same time, you could have put the TPS sensor plug in the MAP sensor and MAP sensor plug into the TPS. The connectors are identical.

Swap the connectors from the TPS and MAP sensors and try to start it.

Checked them, and they aren't long enough to switch around.

Compression results went as followed:

170, 144, 172, 180.

Highly concerning. Get a run a leakdown test on Cyl2 to figure out where the compression is running off to.
