Default D15b vtec block with y7 head?

I have a 99 ex with a D16Y8 that's tired. I think the rings are bad as it eats a lot of oil. I want to rebuild it but I need my car as it's my DD. I am thinking of a basic swap right now to keep it on the road while I do a rebuild of the y8. I can acquire a d15b vtec block, a y7 head and an auto y8 complete intake manifold with tb(for not much $$). Will that combo work? And which ECU would I need to run? The y7 ECU? Or use the stock ex ECU? This wouldn't be a long term solution, just until the y8 is rebuilt. Then I could turn and sell off that motor. Thanks for your help.

Would this setup work? Where would I set timing? Normal? Or 4.5* out? Would I use the y7 ECU and the y7 injectors/fuel rail?
