I recently bought a 96 Civic HX that has a swapped motor and I have identified the block and transmission. I'm not sure where to look for the casting number for the cylinder head. If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Ok it says PR3-2 and has a 94 for the date. It also has an H M to the right of the PR3-2. If I'm reading the chart right it's a B16 from 94, correct? And how do I tell which B16? For example B16a1 or B16a2.

Also when I replaced the distributor cap I had to use the one for a 1.8 GSR. Would it be safe to assume that the distributor is off a 1.8 motor?

Thanks a million for the information. The more I find out about this car the more I think I got a great deal. Now that I know what I'm working with I can start my own modifications and additions.

This is random, but does your car have the oem hood on it? Are there any grease pen markings on the underside of the hood?

1996 was an odd year trying to get some feedback from other 96 owners

No the body is a 96HX. The hood, bumper, fenders, headlights and taillights are all off of a 2000. I'll take some pictures in the morning. What exactly are you trying to figure out, if you don't mind me asking?

In 1996 the cars built in the liberty plant had date stampings on the shock tower, hx models had the stampings on the drivers and passengers side shock towers.

My 96 hx has assembly markings and inspector markings on the underside of the hood, on the gas tank, on the rear lower control arms. My car is completely oem so I noticed them

I was hoping you could add some info as 96 hx coupes in manual might have all had similar markings, or not. Trying to find more info

Here is my hx @300k original miles bone stock aside from samco hoses. I am averaging 43 miles to the gallon city driving using only Michelin low rolling resistance eco tires. They were effecient and comfortable cars ahead of their time
