cv axle stuck
i am trying to put in a new cv axle..it goes in almost the whole way and stops about 1 inch from where it needs to seat...i lubed it and tried pushing on the inner cv joint housing while rotating it to line it up with the splines...it does not budge...in the box it came in there were instructions showing how to take the boot off the inner cv joint and separate the cv axle... and seat the inner cv joint and then reassemble the cv axle...has anyone tried this method...it comes with another clamp to reseal the boot thanks in advance....compo1

Do NOT do that.
You can do it put your back into it.
Seriously, it's not that easy to get in there. You really need to put some muscle into it. It will slide in, it just takes a lot of pushing and strength.
Whatever you do, do not disassemble the cv joint. That will only make things more complicated..

make sure the car is well supported. with the hub assembly loose from the lower ball joint use the hub and brake rotor as a hammer and knock the axle until it goes in. you won't hurt anything doing it this way unless you already hurt something. i do it like this every day
