Just a quick question about front lips
ok, so I found an OEM front bumper lip for the 92-95 coupe hatch/coupe on craigslist. thing is, i have the sedan and i know that the front bumper of the sedan is a bit wider than that of the hatch/coupe. plus, front lips are pretty hard to come by for the sedan, as i was told by an employee at an aftermarket shop where i live. i know some people were able to retrofit the hatch/coupe lips onto sedans, but i just want to know if there's a specific way to do it without the risk of over-stretching and potentially breaking the lip. unless the only way is to forcibly install the lip by such method stated just now, can someone give me the how-to?
btw, this pertains to all front lips in general for EGs.
greatly appreciated!

Post back in here if you get an answer so others can be helped if they search.

Re: Just a quick question about front lips
Lol. So pretty much I've neglected this thread but hopefully if anyone owns a sedan and has this same question, here's what I've learned.
If you're using/looking at an ABS front lip, that material cannot hold up being stretched and, quite possibly, a mild impact can potentially tear it in two.
Polyurethane, it's pretty durable and can be stretched [one method is by heating it] but in doing so will inevitably shorten it's life span. Just try to avoid curbing your front end.
And for carbon fiber? I don't have an accurate answer but, to me, it's not as bendable as polyurethane so I believe you can crack it like ABS but probably not as easily. Same goes with kevlar though that material is supposed to be stronger than carbon fiber. But then again, it's made for cosmetic uses and not daily or track uses because of it's relatively heavy weight.
Any coupe/hatch front lip on a sedan won't look as good without retrofitting and sometimes it's not worth wasting the time and energy. It's better that your lip sits comfortably and flush with your bumper without any stress. This will be easier on your lip's life span and give you peace of mind.
To conclude:
You're better off waiting until you've found a lip that's meant for your bumper. It's pointless to go and throw money away on a lip that's gonna somehow break under the least pressure. Just buy a lip with peace of mind, it'll be worth it.
The internet is your friend. Ebay, amazon, craigslist, HT, just keep searching. The more you search, the sweeter the reward.
