Default cracked exhaust manifold

OK, so I'm getting around 20mpg and I've replaced primary O2 sensor 3 times and then talked to Honda Service and they say if exhaust manifold is cracked you'll never get rid of primary O2 CEL. I checked it out today and it's definetely cracked right into the O2 sensor threads. I can get this stuff that's good to 2000 deg F and is meant for manifolds and exhaust pipes, it's better than JB Weld which is good to 500 deg F. Anyone have any luck in repairing these cracks. Honda wants $1,000 for one, Canadian Tire wants $400 and local junkyard $100 but they haven't checked yet to see if theirs is cracked.

Thanks.

If you have a 96-2000 Civic with a D16Y7 that has the catalytic converter attached to the exhaust manifold, it's actually covered under a recall. This means the new manifold is FREEEEEEEEE!

like stated, if it a Y7, it was recalled, cracked quite a bit. Id reccommend switching to Y8 manifold or just go ahead and get a header, but JMO

Actually, it is a 99 Civic Special Edition with the D16Y7. I'm in Canada and called the Honda Dealer and they said it wasn't covered. Do I need to push them or do you have more info that would help me.

Looks like if I was to switch to a D16Y8 manifold I'd need to replace the entire exhaust as the Y8 manifold doesn't have the converter and the resonator pipe also has different flange.

I have the same issue and got the same story from my dealer for my 00 civic VP, said there was no such recall.

I've called my local dealer (Canada) and they say no to the recall. I'm going to push a little harder. I've also had my mechanic look at the crack and next Thursday he is going to attempt to weld it. He has done 2 carbon steel exhaust manifolds and both turned out good. He said he'll do mine on the car because he can see it real nice. He'll MIG weld it. Say's he'll first use a pencil grinder to cut a groove where the crack is, then heat up the manifold with a torch until it's cherry red then weld it. He said it needs to cool down slowly so it doesn't crack again so after it's welded we'll start the car and let it idle for maybe 1/2 hour then shut the car off. That way it'll cool down over maybe 2 or 3 hours. I'll update next week as to how it goes.

Don't think it exists. There were extended warranties on these honored by Honda I believe but year and mileage probably make this void
