cooling fan problems?
Ok I just finished rebuilding my 93 del sol so, and everything worked except the cooling fan, hotwire it and it ran, changed the radiator fan cooling sensor thing(on the thermostat housing) and my fan started working again, well as the day went went on, it stopped running again, fan motor still good, used 3 different relays and all fuses are good. Could there be anything I'm overlooking, and all connections seems to be tight and secure, thanks

Re: cooling fan problems?
Fan switches on Hondas are usually the reason fans never come on. After you changed it, did you top off the fluid? A switch won't sense temp without conduction; even air bubbles circulating decrease sensitivity.
Also, the fans do not cycle unless system is fully circulating and in the 210 range. If your heater is on, even low it can remove enough heat to keep it just under the trigger threshold. Let it run at a 2 to 3k rpm with the hood up and wait for the fans. It may take a few minutes even after it's warmed up.
You never mentioned if it was overheating.
PS if you want to force them to come on then put on the AC. This will activate the relay without the heat switch on the thermostat.

Re: cooling fan problems?
Instead of hotwire the fan, do you try to bridge the plug on the fan switch?
This tell you if your fan switch is bad or you have a open wire (or bad fan which is not your case).

If you bridge the plug on the fan you create a ground path for the relay to activate the fans. This is the quick way to check fuse and relay function, but not the way to operate full time.

Sorry for late delay, it would start to overheat, I connected a ground wire from the battery to the fan switch just so the fan will come on immediately with the key, I did this just for the mean time, but now it overheard still. If it idles for long enough, overheat. If I drive over about 40-45, over heats. But if I drive about 30-35 it takes a while to overheat. I don't remember if I topped the water off after an overheat after I ran the ground from the battery, but my grandfather topped it off and I'm gonna do one more test tomorrow morning with full water and the ground. Any ideas what could cause this situation? Also, my thermostat is brand new, the old broke and is what cause me to have to do a engine swap and rebuild, thanks and sorry for the long post.

I cannot do this, being me and wanting to get this car back on the street (plus with winter here\coming) I never do finish hooking up the Ac system, the A/C hoses from the 93/94 delSol doesn't match up perfectly, and I haven't finished pulling then from my totaled 94 to put in the 93

Small update, I test drove it tonight, I rode around my parish (county) and didn't have any problems until I was headed home and the temp climbed quick. I pulled over and it stayed right below the 'H' mark, lifted the hood, but nothing seemed bad. Engine wasn't smoking, and the radiator cap was nowhere near hot, I was able to keep my Palm on it for about 5mins and never got hotter. My grandpa told me my temp sensor could have gotten messed up from when I blew my engine (New engine didn't have one so we just used the old one). Tomorrow morning I'm getting a new sensor and seeing if that works without the ground from the battery.

Ok changed the sending unit and problem persists, so I was thinking of just adding an aftermarket electrical water temp gauge, but I was wondering if I can just splice the wire from the new gauge into the wire coming from the sending unit instead of trying to find the right adapters or correct sized sending unit with a gauge, any opinions?
