Completely removing rearview mirror??

Default Completely removing rearview mirror??

so i have a 95 eg hatch. and i just got a wink mirror and want to get rid of the rearview completely to make room for the wink. how do i go about getting it off??

its sort of a bitch to get the ENTIRE assembly off the windshield

but you can remove the mirror by the ball joint that mounted to the windshield
push it to the side and keep pushing it slowly till it pops outs

i use the left over ball to hang my sun glasses

but isnt there a scre or something so you can slide it off the par thtas glued to the windsheild

^no its a clip if you want to remove the whole rear view mirror., if you want the mounting bracket off that comes on the windshield, wait till summer when its really hot, use a lighter and melt the glue that holds its on, take your time so you dont crack your windshield.

Me and my buddy took one off of his car. We used a hair dryer to heat up the glue behind the clip and then we were able to pull it off. Kind of messy but use something like "goo gone" afterwards to finish cleaning off the glue from the windshield.

thanks guys. i was thinking about just keeping it on there in case i have to put the stock mirror back on for some reason anyways... decided that after i read a bunch of other forums on wink mirrors that i found.
