i'm about to grab a stage 2 competition clutch for my gsr. wondering if it's worth it. $150 brand new. how is it compared to exedy and clutch master.

stage 5 is too high. i'm talking about stage1 or 2. i knoe the exedy and clutchmaster stage2 are awesome clutch, but what about the competition.

its a good clutch but i recommend u get a stage 3 u will not be disappointed

The Stage 2 is referring to the one with the carbon kevlar disc right? I have that same one on my gsr and I have no complaints. Ive had it for about 15k miles now and it still grabs like a sob. $150 brand new is a steal so Id suggest you grab it. I got mine for $289 brand new.

stage 2 six puck, is the stage 2 a six puck disc. the one i'm getting is not six puck, it's just a solid disc like the stage 1.

dont get a stage 2 its just like a stock clutch i have a stage 4 and its badass... at least a stage 3

IMO they suck ***.

They are local to me here in GA and NOPI sells the **** out of them, and I've never been satisfied with how they work after the install. I won't install any more of them because even when I forewarn my customers about how "I'd much rather install an Exedy or ACT clutch" they still call me back with "can you guys adjust this clutch? It feels messed up..." or "My clutch is already slipping - what did you guys do?" after we installed their Comp Clutch that they supplied.

I hate them with a passion. I will take an Exedy or ACT all day, every day. My shop NEVER has issues with either of these clutches.

Sorry if anyone from Comp Clutch reads this, but it's my opinion based on a half dozen installs and a hal dozen complaints afterwards.

sorry, i have their flywheel as well. everyone complains about the drivablity of the car with a lightweight flywheel but ive had no problems. better throttle response for sure.

well the act has given me a problem before i.e. pp is to hard for customers, spring failure, premature failure of clutch slaves and clutch hoses... the cc clutch kit has a softer pedal feel bc of their pp design. i havent experience any slipage on mine. but i have heard of it with this clutch though, but only on vehicles that put stage 1,2,3,4 clutch on a fi vehicle with 350+ hp if you want to go fi then you should get the dual diaphragm..

Any clutch kit with a much harder pressure plate is going to wear the clutch hydraulics out sooner - that's not an "ACT" problem.

my stage 2 came with a six puck...its a stage two pressure plate and a stage 4 six puck...the guys from design-tech or you could say "team new image" came up with this combo for me...where its not as harsh so i can drive my car daily and at the same time it gives me the right amount of grip...also my friend has the stage 4 and it almost feels the same

Puck clutches are great for stripping teeth off of final drives in your transmission.







I stripped clean three different final drives in my Type R trannies before I wised up and got a full faced disc - have not had any issues with my tranny since.

ive done the same thing, but only once. on a LS trans with a boosted GSR. i think it was more the shock of the long *** 3rd gear...

Clutch Net dual diaphram pressure plate with 6-puck sprung hub disc. Gripped amazingly well - too well as you can see.

If the clutch doesn't slip, then the tires should, but if the tires don't slip, then an axle breaks, and if an axle doesn't break then your transmission will suffer the consequences.

I still run that very pressure plate in my ITR swap with a stock ITR disc on a brand new (purchased a few years ago new from dealership) ITR tranny. I've never had any issues from the tranny/clutch since stepping down from a puck clutch to full faced disc.

Also noteworthy is that sprung hub puck clutches actuallu do more hram than non-sprung hub designs. All the springs do is create a ratcheting effect, which creates more shock/load on the rest of the drivetrain.
