coilover LCA spacer?? question
couldn't find any info about this....
I got some new rear LCA's, & my D2 coilovers just came in this week.
i was test fitting the coilover to the LCA and noticed there is some space/play between the LCA and the Fork of the coliover.
any of you guys have this problem....and what did you use as a spacer??

i don't mean space on the top...i mean space on the sides...between the forks....like the fork will slide back & forth on the bolt

Ah, I see. Sorry about that. Hmm. Best I can offer is, I have some rear Konis that aren't mounted. I can measure the fork width when I get home.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

yeah...i don't know the exact measurement but i'd say if you center the LCA bewteen the fork there is about 1/8-1/4" on both sides between the LCA and the fork tip.
i measure it tonight when i get home

Re: coilover LCA spacer?? question (jmayhew)
someone brought up...if i had the right LCA's
is there a difference in thickness between the 92-95 LCA & the 96-00 LCA?
pics that ive seen of both show that the 92-95 LCA's seem to have more of a bend at the end...same as mine.

Re: coilover LCA spacer?? question (jmayhew)
Yes, the LCAs are different. I don't know if they're wider or not though. Also, the LCA's you have aren't the ones displayed in the 92-95 service manual. For some reason they only show the SI ones with the tie rod holes on them. (the rear trailing arm only shows the disc brake versions too.. cheapies)
Technically speaking, it's not the LCA that's the problem. It's the bushing inner-shell width that's the width you need. It'll stick out slightly from the LCA. That's why you have to jack the suspension up to the proper position before you torque down all the bolts, so that the rubber is in a neutral state when the car's at rest.

Yes.
Just use a few washers as spacers. It will be fine.

Re: coilover LCA spacer?? question (Targa250R)
OK here's the deal....i still think the ones i got are the right LCA's.
my friend that is helping with the H22 swap also does a lot of work on Jeeps (off-road stuff) and he said the same thing as targa...just get spacers and it will be fine.
its happens a lot with suspension parts for jeeps from what he was telling me.
any where here are some pics....
this seems like the right shape for a 92-95 LCA
as you can see from this pic...the bushings for the strut doesn't stick out as much as the ones for the hub & rear subframe (the bushings on the ends stick out the right size for the strut fork)...i took a LCA off of a junk EX i have at my house and the bushings in all 3 spots stick out the same distance so this is the problem.
and here is a pic of the gap...
so the conclusion/solution is to use spacers
thanks for the info
