clutch going out

clutch going out
Soo my tranny isnt going into gear at all randomly.
today, i had the car in reverse parked(broken ebrake) and started the car whith the clutch in, like your suposed to do, and the car jumped bawkard like i dumped the clutch or something, and died..
once the car warms up, if i put it in first (which is very hard), i can hear a metalic grinding noise coming from the tranny. sometimes it literally will not go into gear. if i try forcing it in, the revs drop a little bit. i never completely force it in. if i just free rev it, then put it into gear, that seems to help.
the thing that really confuses me is that the clutch pedal feels fine. its still decently firm and you dont have to pull it out real far to engage.
its just really ****ed up and idk why. im gunna order a new clutch this week depending on what you on here say.
thanks again for any help.

Re: clutch going out
Try pumping up the pedal several times, then try and shift into gear. Another good check would be to bleed the clutch lines. Also check color of clutch fluid. I had a similar issue, not quite as bad as yours. My clutch lines had a small leak and would bleed down
By the way, what year and model car?

Sorry. 93 eg with b18b1.
Not to sound like a dumbass but how do I check clutch fluid? Its my first Honda and have never had to check clutch fluid anyway.
And I do pump the clutch and it kinda helps.
And before it got this bad, second was just really hard to get into. Like if I revved it higher than 3500 it would hit a wall going into second. Just wouldn't go in.

I am 99% sure its your transmission fluid, that would be the first step to check. I would stop driving the car until you change the fluid so you dont do anymore damage to the gears.
Go to your local Honda dealer and purchase 2 quarts of Honda manual transmission fluid, theyll be about $10 each. Then get a funnel with a 90 degree bend on it.
Follow the steps in this tutorial and report back with your findings.

Re: clutch going out
If it jumped ahead/back in gear with the clutch in there's something wrong with the clutch. It's grinding when you try to put it in gear because the clutch isn't releasing. If the pedal feels good it makes me suspect the disc spit a spring, but check the master and slave cylinder first since they're easy to get at and a lot cheaper. If they're leaking replace them and bleed the clutch.

About, just get 2 quarts.
Thats funny. After my Y8 swap was completed the car wouldnt go into gear. It didnt have trans fluid and after I added 2 quarts, it shifted as smooth as butter.

Re: clutch going out
As for clutch fluid, its DOT 3 (brake fluid). As some posted above, I am leaning towards hydraulic issues. EIther air in the lines, bad fluid, or a failing slave/clutch cylinder. What color is the fluid in the clutch master cyl reservoir? It should be clear-ish or a slightly darker hint of brown. The darker the color, the worse condition it is.
