Civic EX 99 Coupe - Replacing timing belt and water pump. What else?
Hey, guys.
I'm planning to replace my EX 99 timing belt and water pump via mechanic (I'll buy the parts on Ebay). Since they'll go into so much trouble taking stuff apart just to reach the timing belt and water pump, what else can they replace on the way? Balance shaft? Pulleys? Tensioners? What else?
I might as well save a lot of money to have them pick the car apart in a single try and replace those parts altogether.
BTW, is there a way to tweak the timing belt so that it'll be more fuel-efficient? Or do I just tell them to change the timing belt normally and it'll take care of the it by itself? Right now my Civic averages around 38-40mpg on highway (I don't drive aggressively).
Thanks in advance!

When you buy the parts off of eBay make sure you get a good, trusted brand of parts (or just buy OEM). While you're there, also replace the tensioner. Look into getting a "kit" that comes complete with all the stuff you need.
No, there is no way to tweak the timing belt. If the timing belt is off, you may cause damage to the engine and/or it will run like crap.
