Master cylinder and proportioning valve questions
I recently did a GSR rear disk brake conversion on my 95 Civic. I noticed when I brake it's a little bit softer and after reading the forum I know I'll need an Integra master cylinder.
1) Does it matter if I should get one with a booster or not?
2) Should I get the master cylinder with the ABS application or not? (since the conversion is from a GSR and it has ABS, but I do not on my car )
3) Would the master cylinder fit perfectly?
3) Where is the proportioning valve located? (could someone post a pic)
4) Do I really need a proportioning valve? What is the purpose of one anyway?

Here is what I did on my ITR setup on my 95 civic coupe.
1) You will need to get a 94+ Integra MC with booster and resevoir, your civic one has a different bolt pattern, will not fit.
2) It doesn't really matter because you do not have the same system as the integra.
3) Yes the Integra GSR master cylinder will fit perfectly in your firewall, it is held on by 4 bolts and nuts, and a pin and cotter pin connected to your brake pedal.
4) the proportioning valve is located directly in the middle of your firewall, it has a whole bunch of brake lines going into it, 6 if i remember correctly..you will need a open ended pipe wrench 10 mm to remove all these hard lines.
5) Yes you need one if you want the job done correctly, and you want to brake safely right? all the proportioning valve does is it send the neccessary amount of fluid to all 4 brakes when pressure is applied. the proportioning valve you need will be a "4040" valve, from a 90-93 integra..about 40 bucks from a junkyard..
got to http://www.b-20.net for the complete setup, that is where i learned to do it myself for my ITR brake setup...or just go to the hybrid honda page... good luck!!

Re: Master cylinder and proportioning valve questions (Blue-Civic-Hybrid)
Hey, thanks a lot! That made everything soo much clearer
So does the proportioning valve have to be from a 2nd Gen Integ?

Re: Master cylinder and proportioning valve questions (DragIIcivic)
I agree, the stock prop. valve will be fine. I still have the stock dx hatch part on my car-never a problem. I have been to a number of track events with the car and the only thing it may change is a slight bit more stability under end-of-straight threshold braking. Unless you're doing serious racing, I doubt you'll notice a difference worth messing w/ those lines on the firewall.
