Default Civic Cluster Wiring (7th into 6th Gen)

I don't know who to ask for this; so I had to make a thread...
I've been looking at fitting other clusters into 6th gen Civics and really liked the look of the sedan 03-05 over the s2k & the integra clusters, which had me look up some diy's and wiring diagrams. For me to use it, can I use this diagram (03-05 Cluster swap into 01-02) and the 01-02 into 96-00?
Basically, there's only a diagram for a 01-02 into a 96-00 and a diagram for 03-05 into 01-02, can I simply make a 03-05 to 96-00 using both diagrams by combining them over?

Your plan seems reasonable, but if i remember correctly, one of the gauges won't work after the swap.

Thanks for the acknowledgement Ron. Hmm, I guess there's no way of knowing unless I try it then since there weren't any comments about it. I'll be back in a couple of months when I come across a cluster and try it out... but not giving up hope for an answer from somebody with experience or better knowledge of this

my buddy has this swap

his temp gauge doesnt read.

personally Id rather lose the mph then the temp, I can guess about how fast Im going, I never want to guess how hot the car is though. Dunno if its specific to his wiring or all of them the temp gauges are messed up

I think it's a general problem and I haven't seen a solution.

It has been suggested to use the same fix as that of S2000 clusters. Something about a multiplexer.

There is a very simple fix for this, and it involves bypassing the digital front-end for the temp gauge (ie - connecting directly the analog portion of the gauge only).

I cannot remember where I saw this, but it was done, and some searching should give you the answer.

There was a guy that claimed all he did was solder a wire but never outlined how he did it.

Hi guys, anyone has anything new on that? I saw a full-working swap, so there's a solution.

Are you sure it was completely working and it was the 01-02?
01-02 is on top. 03-05 is on bottom (specifically coupe)
IIRC: coupe = red, sedan = blue

I'm needing a new cluster for my CRV so if i can get a hold of a 03-05 Civic cluster I will honestly attempt to swap. I actually need to resolder all my cluster pigtails anyway because the rats chewed it up so we'll see.
The reason why I mentioned the CRV cluster is because it's the same as the Civic. Here's a collage I put together if you're interested in more cluster options that bolt in

This info is great too

Thanks and i will post pics soon as i find harness plugs for it lol.

oh and a little teaser

Still working out alot of bugs.

Full write up to be done when wrinkels are ironed out.

so it sounds like it works similarly to an s2000 or rsx cluster.

found this also. after reading through a bit of it i think it's clear why no one has come up with a simple solution to the problem at hand.

the only time i've seen someone with a functioning temp gauge on a newer cluster is when it was also used in conjunction with the newer ecu and multiplexer unit.

@CO671 it was 03-06 precisely
The only thing that might be a problem is that crappy temp gauge, no pics/schemes with wiring anywhere....

EDIT
saw the info about s2k temp....
