Icon6 change cap/rotor vehicle will not start

ok... i did everything accordingly, and the car ran for about 5 minutes. i drove it to the trash can and it died. now, it will not start up.

i dabbed a bit of PB blaster on the rotor screw to remove... there is no sign of moisture. what i think happened is, i bent the ignition coil spring when i put back on the cap...

my car is blocking the trash... people are getting angry~!

UP AND RUNNING... WAS MY IGNITION COIL.

Push the car away so it's not blocking anything and then test for spark and fuel. You may have blown the coil.

Fuel - no tools needs
Turn key from off to ON(II). Do you hear the low humming noise of the fuel pump priming for 2 seconds.

Spark - need spare spark plug and buddy

i removed the cap and the screw is still there... from what i understand, it will work with or without the screw. some autoparts stores sell it "push and play".

RONJ... i have fuel... i can hear the fuel pump prime.

what happens when i DO NOT get spark?

What car?

If you don't have spark, check whether the timing belt snapped and test the resistances of the coil (see FAQs sticky).

Def sounds like symptoms of a blown coil. Exact same thing happened to my teg a few months back. New cap, new rotor, went to start and no go. Coils tend to do this in our cars, more so if they been in there for a while. Hope u get it running

A very common reason for blowing the coil is cranking the engine with one or more spark plug wires unplugged.

my heart dropped... when i read this. lol the TIMING BELT is still there in tacked with tension.

how do i do this with the coil? need a tool or can borrow a friend? ha~! if it so happens to be the coil, do i go OEM or autozone? AND what if it is not the coil...?

well, it started... and died while in idle. i am not sure if that makes a difference though.

I think you need a multi meter to test the coil, you can get it at a auto store or walmart.

You can get a coil from the parts store for about 70 bucks.
