!!!!CEL P0133 & P0420 Help!!!!
My 00 Si runs like crap when CEL is on. I replaced the primary o2 sensor cleared the codes, couple miles later it returns. IF SOMEONE can help me get rid of these codes i would greatly appreciate it. Codes are PO133-->Rear Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Bank 1, Sensor 1) Circuit Slow Response & P0420--> Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold. Tell me what to do H-T.

Re: !!!!CEL P0133 & P0420 Help!!!! (ATS*EG2)
Any suggestions as to what I should do, in other words do i replace the OEM cat with a high flow, or should i remove the cat and run a test pipe, as far as running to lean how do i go about adjusting that?

Re: !!!!CEL P0133 & P0420 Help!!!! (hondamonkey)
what kind of 02 sensor did you replace the primary one with, I'm going to guess Bosch, for the P0420 replace the secondary sensor too, if the code comes back you need a new cat, a high flow will set off the CEL again, OEM is the best way to go, putting on a high flow cat or test pipe will just make your car a **** load louder and smell, and your car will not get any faster

you my friend are sadly mistaken
would you rather spend $50 on an 02 sensor (which probably needs to be replaced anyway) or $800+ on a catalytic converter (from honda ), or about $150 for a ebay replacement

Re: !!!!CEL P0133 & P0420 Help!!!! (sicones)
I was quoted $230 for the 02 sensor in the cat, and an oem replacement cat cost about 150 like you said. Now im back at square one.

Re: !!!!CEL P0133 & P0420 Help!!!! (hondamonkey)
your car is obd2 and you dont want to run a test pipe on obd2 cuz you will burn that o2 sensor. then you will have to replace it. my suggestion is to get like a magnaflow cat thats less restrictive than the OEM cat. your o2 sensor is a 4-wire heated o2sensor correct?

Re: !!!!CEL P0133 & P0420 Help!!!! (b00sted_hatch)
p0420 is the "catalyst efficiency below threshold". Basically your catalyctic converter is no longer doing its job.The computer knows this by looking at the voltage coming out of the secondary o2 sensor.
Im 99% sure emissions equipment are covered under 8yr/80k miles.
If there are no other mods done to your car that would cause it to run rich or affect its performance, Honda SHOULD cover your cat under warranty. You better remove any aftermarket equipment though, cuz im sure they will blame it bad cat on it and try and make you pay for the repairs...
Good luck!

yea, your going to burn up an o2 sensor using a high flow cat...riiiiight

you can get a universal 4 wire DENSO O2 sensor off ebay for about $50 and it takes about a half hour to replace, then when your CEL comes on again for P0420 you can get a replacement cat on ebay for about $150, or a Honda cat for about $400 to $800 depending on the year

this emissions warranty thing is true, but I have a lot of aftermarket crap on my car and there was no way in hell I would even bother going to the dealership to have some stupid tech tell me my cat went bad becasue of the intake and exhaust. (I know why my cat went bad )

you do realize that the O2 sensor before and after the cat are IDENTICAL units right, you might want to think about that for a second

what the expletive are you talking about? all i said was if he was to NOT RUN A CAT AND RUN A TEST PIPE HE'D BURN HIS SECONDARY O2!!! i know they are identical. AND I SAID HE SHOULD RUN A MAGNAFLOW CAT OR SOMETHING OF THAT SORT!!

do i really need to spell it out, IF THEY ARE IDENTICAL UNITS BEFORE AND AFTER the cat it is ******* IMPOSSIBLE to "burn out" an O2 sensor
