Car won't fire, searched and have troubleshot - 93 Hathcback B20 swap
Alright I'm in desperate need of advice. I've been searching since 2am this morning when I got up for work and have tried different things with no success. I'm going to throw as much info as I can here in as little words as I can.
93 hatch b20 I installed a DIFFERENT aftermarket head unit yesterday, no amp just a single din head unit. Car sat for 3 days before. I got in to start changing the head unit, it started, put the new one in, it wouldn't start. Waited 10 mins and it started up finished the head unit it ran fine, until this morning. Car will just crank it won't fire up just spins and spins and spins. I've switched head units I've left it out altogether I've double checked every wire nothing touching, it's been raining and snowing for 2 days if that matters. I hear the fuel pump when I turn the key, I hear main relay at my feet click when it's turning over. I've checked all fuses under the dash and hood. Only one that was blown was a back up or back up light under the hood it was a 15. I put a 20 in and it blew too but I don't think back up would cause it to mot start. Cars not a piece it runs good never had any problems out it before this and this is sudden. Anyone ever had this particular problem and know the fix? Instead of just throwing ideas that I've been trying I really need first hand experience and a solution. Pleaseeee help thank you in advance

Never put a high amperage fuse to try fix a problem you can burn the harness and components. Check all your work to find some wire making contact.
You have something making contact for the fuse to blow twice!! This fuse is very important with this fuse blown the car won't start, The Back up is the fuse you use to reset the ECU.

^this
- Redo the stereo wiring correctly so that the constant power wire is not shorting out.
- Check whether all 4 plugs have bright white spark.

Alright then this will bring me to another point I cannot figure out. If the back up fuse is my problem, like y'all say, I need to rewire the head unit. I've taken the head unit out and if I'm not mistaken the "constant" 12v supply in an eg is white/blue. I cannot find that wire in my harness. For a year I've always had to use the switched 12v and reset my head unit settings everyti me, no big deal. But maybe something touched when I did this unit. I'm going out now to rewire, in the meantime is there anyway or fuse I can pull so power won't even go to the radio wires? Or do I need to find that constant and tighten up the rats nest

And I just realized this. I hear a humming like the fuel pump, BUT it's coming from the hood area not the tank like I'm almost positive I usually hear it from. Am I right or will I hear the buzzing distinctly from the tank. 45mins of sleep I can't think right

So does the fuel pump prime or not? The pump is under the rear seat in the gas tank.
Also determine what is humming under the hood.
Any CEL codes?

I hear a humming so I would assume it's priming, I took out the head unit and fuse and put a new 7.5 under the hood in the back up fuse slot, still won't start but isn't blowing the fuse now with the radio fuse out..

It's getting fuel I smell it and no codes. Not even when I bridge the port to flash codes on dash. No codes but defiantly smell fuel, checked oil it's a little low doubt it's that, also tapped the tank just in case, nothing. Still no fuses blown

Re: Car won't fire, searched and have troubleshot - 93 Hathcback B20 swap
Ok I got it started, I put new fuse in back up slot with radio fuse out and it started, motor sounds terrible, but running. When I say terrible I mean terrible like it's blown up but it's not. I hooked up the stereo same way put radio fuse back in and it still runs, turn it off it'll start back up. What was the problem and why is it running so bad now and is it possible I blew that backup fuse? Thank you for your help man I was blowing that back up fuse off like it was nothing. Now I wanna find the cause

Spark plug wires weren't on wrong and I don't know if it has anything to do with the original problem but I got my b16 head outta the machine shop and got a rental for the weekend to swap heads, as soon as I pulled the head I saw my #2 sleeve cracked, tore the head down 6 bent valvesso idk what happened. I know that little 7.5 amp fuse didn't cause all that and I don't beat on this hatch at all i got k swap coupe for that

[QUOTE=carlos8;49557451] I have a 99 ek with a b18type r swap I was changing the starter i didn't disconnect the battery during the process of taking out the starter made something spark. I removed the distributor to have more space. After I was done with everything I go to start the car but it just cranks.. The distributor does the same function connected or disconnect it don't make not spark. I changed the coil and igniter what else can it be. When I put the switch on I hear the ECU click and the fuel pump turn on. What could be the problem?
