Default car shaking..not axle, wheels, or tie rod...what else?

my 96 ek with a b16a2 swap is shaking when i drive around 10-20mph. I'm not sure it's shaking any harder when i'm going faster, because it's still a project in the works. Anyhow the shaking seems to be shaking left to right when i accelerate. It also seems to be coming from the right front side. I replaced the wheel, it turned out not to be that. I checked the right axle, even replaced it, and it wasn't that either. I inspected the tie rods, and everything seems fine. what else can it be. I do have a H brace on the car, and an si sway bar. The sway bar endlinks, the bolt wouldn't come out..and if you know what i'm talking about the 4 gray holes at the end of the endlinks is cracked, but it seems to still work fine. is the sway bar causing the problems? what else can it be?

did you check the inner CV joint, does it vibrate under load? or just curising at 10-20? in all gears?

check fluid...

because i inspected the axle. even replaced it with a new one. that was the first thing i thought it was also, but it turned out not to be it.

when idle or the car is still, everything is fine. only when crusing. doen'st matter what gear im in, as long as i'm moving around 10mph+ it starts shaking...it feels like the engine & tranny is shaking left to right.

I did also check the motor and tranny mounts.. those are fine.

would it be the sway bar causing the shaking?

I dont think the sway bar would have any effect unless you were cornering.

People have gotten multiple bad axles from Autozone. Shitty re-man's. If its a bad axle, it would probably get progressivly worse the faster you go.

Could be the broken endlink on the swaybar, but it's more likely a really bad wheel bearing. If it's only happening at 10-20mph, then it's a harmonic issue, which means the problem will be rotating in a circle. Check the hub and the brake rotor for damage as well, because even though it's unlikely, it's possible that they could be off enough to cause some odd noise/shaking/vibrations while driving.

well the axle i'm using right now is my oem one. I know what you guys are talking about. I bought the axle at pepboys, and after installing it, the gears on the axles that goes inside the tranny was small, so it wasn't even actually spinning. I had to return that, and get a 2nd one from pepboys. It was also harder to install. somehow it was alittle longer than the oem one. It still did the shaking thing, so i returned it and just used my oem one.

yeah it is a problem that rotating in a circle. when i move 10-20mph, it shakes left and right over and over. i have a short shifter, and can see the shifter wiggling left and right also. It doesn't do it slowly. it moves pretty fast left and right. i also thought it was the brake rotor. examined it also. seems fine. doesn't look warped. spun the spindle and examined that too.

I just wanted to verify, that's its not my H brace, or sway bar. I wanted to rule out some stuff...

Any grinding noises at all? My lude did everything you described but also had a grinding sound. Turned out to be a shot wheel bearing.

Jack up the front end, take both wheels off. Then run it up see if it still shakes have someone watching the front axles and watch them shake if they do. My buddy had the same problem with is 02si we did that checked it out and it was just the axle. But you never know could be a warped rotor or bad caliper even though your not on the brakes. Just a suggestion.

that's actually a good idea, i don't know why i didn't think of that......i'll try that out

i'll check the wheel bearing again this week.

no grinding noise.....drives pretty straight, but shaking left to right

i have checked the tires, like i said before, i tried on set of different rims w/ tires already..stock steelies, 05 ex rims, and aftermarket 15"...i'm pretty sure it's not the wheels.

thanks guy..i'll try to update in a few days.
