alright then. From what I understand then you plan on getting into working on your own vehicle?? Just search through these threads over and over again even after you sort this problem out. And when you get the money, buy a basic "honda" tool set lol
these guys could probably help you out some more on that eventually because you need not worry about it so much but here's some you should probably eventually get:
8mm - 19mm socket set and wrenches but you'll really only need the even one's for your honda.

I literally just needed those two to replace my shifter, I'm pretty sure. It was awesome.

I love Honda simplicity; except when you need to troubleshoot... =/

honestly to me it sounds like your water pump is not circulating water, and its just boiling. so u might want to try that.. first i highly suggest a compression test on all cylinders to make sure the engine is 100! where you located ? i can help you out.

hi everybody. i got out of work today and decided to take the civic for a ride and see how hot the motor and cooling sytem will get while im driving. i had a old autometer water temp guage from when i had my 73 camaro, so i hooked it up along with the factory guage. i went for about a 13 minute ride down to autozone and back, without shutting the car off, and i did not turn the electric fan on, i have 2 fans the factory fan, that wont turn on, and a slim fan i put for a backup. so i didnt use the fan in the 13 minute ride, when i got to my house the auto meter guage was reading about 201, and the factory guage a hair over half. so i turned the fan on, and shut the motor off, i popped the hood and the top hose was red hot and it was hard as a rock, and it was swollen at the neck where it goes into the head. and the bottom hose was warm, and a little hard, and the factory fan still did not turn on. does this sound like a bad water pump? please help me everyone. oh yes the weather was 76 degree`s and clear, if that helps. thanks everyone, enjoy your weekend. be safe

i did that already, and the fan will not turn on, no matter how long it runs, the temp guage was up to 3/4 to the top. the anti freeze was spitting out the top about 3 inches, and the radiator was steaming like crazy out the top, so i shut it down. thanks

man i feel your pain on this, its such a pain in the *** huh? My cars been on jackstands with no motor for about a month now. 2 weeks before that its problem after problem so I tore it all apart.

you can always run a switch to manually turn the fan on and off, or short out the plug that goes to the sensor with a paper clip so its just on when the cars on.

for a temp fix that will at least help you rule that part out so if that doesnt help you can move on to see if something else is wrong.

If it was me I would be calling the mechanic and asking him what the problem was, let him know something was swapped wrong and your having alot of problems.

i hope it`s nothing with the head. seems like the top hose is the problem, as it connects to the neck of the head, that is where the top hose gets very hot, and hard, and you can literally see the hose swell around where the hose clamp is. i took the top hose off the head and looked inside to see if it were clogged or something, i even try to put my fingers in there but don`t see or feel anything.

your swap guy messed something up.. i recommend you go ahead and check that the fan is plugged in right, and the relay is in correctly. as for the over heating, do a cylinder pressure test. make sure they are all even. autozone rents the compression tester for free. so u dont have an excuse. if they are all good. change the top hose, and change the water pump.

If you have the time and money, it doesn't hurt to change the water pump. Getting the engine the way you did, it's always a smart move. It's good maintenance and it may solve your problem. Honestly, it just sounds like you aren't moving coolant for some reason, probably due to a bad pump.

hi everyone, thanks im going to see what the funds look like to get the water pump and timing belt changed. atleast if they get changed, i know that wil be counted out as the problem. hopefully that will be the problem. i just wanna drive the car and not have to keep looking at the temp guage and think it`s going to overheat, plus that will get the wife of my back about the car. she nags always spending money on that car. we bought a house last april so things need to be done inside but, my car comes first

man this sucks go back to the dude and just go
" fix it mate its not working "
my toyota starlet Ep82 once didn't start i turned the key and there was nothing at all.
did a few things and nothing happened so i got a starter motor, got that fitted and still nothing.
I trawled the internet looking for a fix whilst push starting my car for 2 months ( Hey it only weighed 850kilos )
then i took it to a motorsport specialist.

turned out the garage that fitted the starter motor had got the wires crosses.positive to negative. he swapped them over in about 10 seconds i turned the key and it started.

what i mean is the original garage F***** up so i went back there and they payed for the starter motor and the work the other chap did which i said cost me a tenner and it was nothing but hey i needed something off them.

go back to him man, its not fair you payed him ALOT of money and he did not deliver his services simple as that. don't be arsey with him just put it across that you understand there is something wrong, he will be obliged to fix it if he cares about his reputation. he should pay for it aswell so don't worry about that part.

good luck buddy hope you get it sorted soon.
