Reids Del Sol

I purchased a 94 Del Sol a few weeks ago with the SRS lite on. If I understand correctly that indicates the airbags most likely won't work (or don't work). The gentleman I bought the car from included in his spare parts another SRS board, which thanks to this forum, I successfully located and changed. The SRS idiot lite is still on. To the best of my forum reading it looks like the next step is taking the car to a Honda repair shop. I think. Would that be correct?

My roof, window and doors seals are not bad but old of course. This will not be my rainy day car but as I live in central Ca it is not a huge issue. However after doing a little online searching I don't see ANY source for these seals. Is that correct?

I have the map lites and would like to install them in the door handles but I do not have the rods. As I understand it I need to get the appropriate rods (2 for each side) to correctly do this job.
where do I go to order the rods from?

OP I have merged all of your threads to here and renamed the thread. You only provide bare minimum car information in one thread and expected everyone to magically know what car you were talking about in your other threads.

Just ask all your questions about this car in this thread until you've read the rules sticky and can create more acceptable threads about your issues.

#1 The Airbag
Your Sol being a 94 has 2 airbags. I would try removing the actual airbags and jumping the connectors with resistors equivalent to the airbag. If the light goes out you have a bad airbag. If it remains on its there is an issue else-ware in the system and then maybe consider taking it to Honda. Make sure to take all necessary precautions when working with airbags they can be quite dangerous.

#2 Replacement Seals
If you go to your local Honda dealerships parts counter, they can still special order these parts new. That will come with a new parts price though. Otherwise ebay, wreckers, or there is always good old Honda Automotive Parts They also sell new OEM parts but are also quite pricey. While your at the dealership order a tube of "shin etsu grease". Its Honda's specialized silicon grease made just for the weather stripping. It will quell that Targa top chirp and protect the seals from further degradation.

#3 JDM door lights
The only way i know to get rods for these is to buy them used. Or to custom bend your own new set, though ive never heard of anyone successfully doing this. For this reason the price on these rods can be quite inflated.

On my 94 Del Sol si the front bumper has the fog lites (missing in my case) and a pair of smaller lites lower down. After considerable time reading the forum I still have questions. What is the intended purpose of the lower smaller lites and what switch should control them? They currently do not turn on.
Also, what switch should control the fog lites?

The lower lights would be some aftermarket stuff a previous owner installed on the bumper. You will have to pull the bumper to see if they are even wired up and trace the wire.

The fog lights if factory would have a factory fog light push button switch somewhere on the dash, if they were added aftermarket (likely) you will again have to pull the bumper and trace wire to see if they are wired up and to what if any switches.

The fog lites fit in the bumper as in original equipment. If so what original equipment switch would have controlled them?
the lower lites are mounted in the bumper and certainly look or. Apparently they are not and I will have to trace them out. What would the intended purpose of the lower lites be? I have no idea and therefore am not sure how I should switch them.

Just because the fog lights fit into the OEM locations like OEM does not mean it is JDM OEM.

I don't know which empty location on the dash had the fog light switch but I do know one of them did.

That does not mean yours has it as it's most likely ebay fog lights slapped on the car and you will have to trace the wires to see what they did.

aux lights? the 94 del sol sure did come with them, they're the round ones next to the headlights. as to fog lights, pics.

Thanks for that, I was thinking more along the lines of some LED strip added to the bumper. Didn't even think about the second set of bulbs from factory.

Then again, I always forget the Sol had a bumper more like the integra in design.
