I have a OEM car alarm on my 2000 Honda civic si. The remote seems to not work anymore. I changed the battery and still nothing. So I am guessing the remote is either damaged or no longer linked. The small red light still comes on when I press lock or unlock. With the same or new remote. Can I link it the car alarm beeping. I tried it and doesn't seem to work. I tried key in ignition, to on, press lock on remote, key to off, and repeat for 4 turns. Doesn't seem to work, is there a way to disable it first? Any ideas?

I would suggest calling your local Honda Dealership. They may be able to provide you with reset/link instructions.

It may also require bringing it in to the Dealership.

The instructions that I said was basically Honda oem instructions, but it doesn't say will it work with alarm on, but from my what I can tell it doesn't

Thanks, I tried something similar if not the same. At lowes and home depot they have a similar device in the battery section where you point your remote to the device, click on your remote, and if the light comes on then your battery or device is good. If not then somethings wrong. I tried it with my civic remote with a new battery and there was no light from the tester light, even though the led light on my remote did flash red. I also tried it with my TL remote and the tester flashed a light. Most likely my remote is dead. I went to Honda to ask how much for a new remote, and it ranged about $100. Maybe its time to overhawl the remote system. Might be worth it, Especially since there are full aftermarket alarms for around $200.

Glad to hear you figured out the problem. Do a Google search. You can purchase a new OEM remote from online vendors for less than half the dealership price.
