Re: Cap,rotor Problem
check your firing order.
Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you put the wires back on in the same order?
EDIT:
EG/EK distributors are notorious for just dying. I had one go out on me in a similar fashion at one point. Now I'm not saying that's what it is, just something to consider. I'm assuming you don't have a spark plug wire tester?

No to which question? Not having a wire tester or putting the leads back in the correct order?
On second thought, if you had put the wires back in the wrong order the car wouldn't have started. I think you may have a dead dizzy.

Re: Cap,rotor Problem
This is exactly what happened to me in April and the car is still dead. I had a couple of threads about this on April 21 or 22 under "98 Civic died suddenly". You can search to read those.
Just like you, I had just put NGK plugs, Tec cap and rotor and I think Prestone wires all purchased online from a Honda dealer. I started it twice with no problem. When I went to drive it I got about 1000 feet and it shut down without a single sputter. It just shut off! I got it pulled home, put on the old stuff and still nothing. I have a thread today about it! It is "98 Civic EX AT onlly 82K..." if you want to read what some folks offered trying to help me.
I had immediately ruled out the timing belt. Everything else works in the car as far as I can tell. The coil and ICM tested good at Autozone. good luck
