Default A/C Won't Turn On

I haven't had A/C in a while so I ask this guy to charge it up for me. He works on refridgerators for a living so I trust him. He hooks up his equipment and tells me to hit the switch. I do and he says its not turning on. The button is on and I can feel the car work harder when I hit the switch but he says nothing is happening with the system.

Whats the easiest stuff to check for? Or should I take it to an actual mechanic?

Hmm..don't have a clue. Check fuses?pump?condenser? Did the guy put the right refrigerant in it? If all else fails, take that **** out. Riding with your windows down in 105 degree weather is cool, only downside is when girls complain about their hair blowing all over and sweating.

Default Re: RESOLUTION !!!!

make sure he is putting the right kind and amount of refrigerant in the lines.
make sure to check all relays, fuses, etc.

When I had this problem before, my car would get weak and rpms raise just a tad as if the a/c were kicking in but it would never get cold, could not figure it out.

I had this problem 3 weeks ago. Everything checked out fine, except for the ECU. The guy told me the ecu seemed to be the problem, however, could not prove it without putting in a known working ECU w/ a/c option to see if it fixes it.

I swapped out my 95 EX ecu w/ my girls 93 DX ecu and my a/c immediately worked fine. I gave her ecu back and bought another EX (p28) ecu from someone and my a/c has been working ever since.

Actually its an R12 system, so checking it for r134 would be hard

He tried to fill it and he said he couldn't because the system wasn't running. He couldn't even tell how much r12 was there because the system would not turn on. He did, however, see around 100 psi of pressure in the system.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll have to start checking fuses and go from there.

Ok, and update. I found the section in my Helms to test everything. From my tests, I've come to the conclusion that my A/C Thermostat is bad and I need to replace it. Has anyone ever replaced this part? I tried to take it out but it looks like I need to drop the Evaporator to get to it.
