A/C problems on 96 Ek hatchback help please :-) thanks
well i'm stuck, on this problem. hope someone in here has the knowledge to help me fix my a/c
florida is very hawt without a/c
okay well my condensor fan fuse keeps blowing. the 20 amp one under the hood.
anyone have any ideas why that would happen?
it even blows when the condensor fan is unplugged and the a/c is on.
i put a high amp fuse just to see if my a/c had freon and it did and it blew cold very cold for about 2 minutes then just blew the fuse again.
so the car hasn't ever been hit or in any accidents i'm the only owner of this car.
so any help would be awesome TIA

My guess is that motor on the condensor fan is bad, drawing to many amps(blowing the fuse).

okay well i unplugged everything from the a.c. setup.
like the condensor fan, compressor, and the dryer.
Then i plugged them in one by one to see when the fuse would blow.
plugged the fan first with the car running, and fuse was fine. Fan was blowing good and steady.
Then i plugged in the dryer, i don't know what it would do but it didn't blow the fuse when i plugged it in
Then i plugged in the one red wire from the compressor, and the compressor kicked on for a breif moment then the fuse popped.
So then i replaced the fuse and ran a wire from the compressor to the battery just to see what happens.
well the compressor kicked on and stayed on but the wire was getting very very hot like i felt it starting to burn. So I disconnected the wire and the compressor cut off and ....so thats where i am now.
Do i need to replace my compressor?? help is awesome TIA

nope
just made that wire really really hot
thats all i have to go on
so i'm thinking it's the compressor i friend of mine said it could be to compressor cause it could be drawing to many amps or volts.
let me know please so i can go get one if your sure thats what i need or not

It could be possible, but compressors usually make a noise when they fail. And the fact it blows cold air when it engages, makes me want to say it is something condensor fan related. A shop specializing in a/c would beter dianoise the problem beter than I can without seeing it.

When you unplug the fan and you put a meter to it do you still find a ground?
Did you recently do any work to your car? If it's too big of a hastle I'd make a relay and hard wire and fuse it myself by using the same fan....
