Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
no i havent gotten anything yet. Still thinking about it. Im trying to tighten up the rear end which is handling really bad, every little bump on the road throws me everywhere and also has terrible road noise. fixed one bearing by replaceing hub assembly and now have to do the other. wanted to start with bearings then fix bushings, then later possibly replacing struts/shocks etc.

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
Is the car stock?
I would inspect the shocks, endlinks if you have a swaybar, and then inspect the bushings. You can visually inspect bushings so don't just replace those because the car handles funny.
Also be sure the alignment is in check, .03-.05 toe out int he front, and .03-.05 toe in in the rear. This will promote high speed stability.
Road noise? what kind? Tires noise?

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
Yea everything is stock. road noise, sounds like a train. the wheel bearing in the back is bad im going to replace it this week. i can grab the tire and rock it side to side. had this problem on other side and replaced it. Going to see if this fixes some of the noise. bounces all over the road, hums and vibrates entire car past 40 mph. well i noticed about 80,000 miles ago when coming to an abrupt slow down like a stop sign on a backroad etc, that the rear end would vibrate hard like a tire coming off the road several times.
the car has around 200,000 miles on it
the car has around 200,000 miles on it

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
For the rear upper, the are 2 bushings each.
Also, I reccomend taking a look at the ball joints, and upper control arms, as well as tie rods.
Also, you would be much better off repalceing everything all the same time. Including shocks/springs.

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
ok the rear bearings have been replaced now. and since i actually looked under the car i checked the bushings and there all shot... Next im going to go ahead and get a master bushing set like libertariat suggested earlyer and go ahead and redo all the bushings on the rear end and be done with it for a while. (then i will still have them for the rest of the car for later)
Wanted to know of some good bushing kits. right now the one im looking at is from Energy Suspension and the bushings are red.
Also there is no rear sway bar on the back, someone mentioned about that earlyer. Not really concerned about that since it has stock suspension but if i ever come across one ill grab it.
Also about this time last year i replaced the rear passanger wheel bearing. It was to the point i could grab tire and wobble it slightly while the car was on the ground. Got the drivers side one done yesterday same thing i could grab it tire and wobble it. Put it back togethor seems good nice and tight tire spins good. gave it a good last shake no wobble. no grinding. Walked back over to the passanger side and gave it the tire a shake, to my surprise it wobbles back and forth. Lug nuts are all tight what could cause this can a bearing really wear out this fast? i just replaced it last year... when i do the bushings im going to look over it and make sure that theres not a bolt or two loose in the drum.
There isnt much under these cars!

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
You do realalise the so called "master kit" doesn't even include half the total amount of bushings?
Also, that you'll have to remove them, and clean and lube them every so often?
Sure it's about 100 more, but you get more bushings, which will last longer, and in the long run be better?
But, buy what you want.

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
That is the kit I was talking about.
What about the rear lower control arms, upper control arms, as well as the componsator arms.
Look how much ES charges for that, and than you will see why I say the rubber kit is better.
Ball joint and tie rod boots are junk. If your boots are torn the joint is more than likey ruined anyways.

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
are you talking about the PIC hard rubber bushing kit? does this have all the bushings? or just "critical" ones like energy suspension had?

Re: Bushings 97 Civic EX
You talk about needing to lubricate ES bushings... What happens if you don't? Do they just get squeaky? I've never lubricated ES components after installation...
