There is no such thing as best swap. It's what ever fit your budget and what are your goal.

Well first of all..

What do you want in it? Is this your daily driver? How much are you willing to spend, etc.

get expeiance in the technical side and driving if u get a car thats too fast and u are an inexperianced driver then that will not be a good situation.. bc we all know how leadfooted we all are with our first car.

i learned to drive 5 spd and i am a really good driver at it from how my friends have taught me and my parents. I was looking to spend like 4 grand on the civic and spend a little less than 1,500 on the engine so i can have money left over for other things to do to it. I want a engine with power in it for the price of under $1,500. Any suggestions ??

Save some money and get an LS w/ a B16 transmission if you dont plan on doing lots of freeway driving or around speeds of 65-70+. You will save money compared to a B16a/a2 swap, but you wont have the m@d tyt3 JDM vtak juice y0. LS for someone in your shoes is a good place to start. A B16 will just make you want to drive like an a$$hole, hitting vtec is every gear and still going nowhere.

Unless you know how to swap a motor yourself or are mechanically inclined enough to attempt it while taking your time I would also suggest just sitting on w/e comes with the car.

If you can do it yourself your best bet is to find a complete B18b1(LS) swap in good condition and drop it in yourself. I have seen complete LS setups go for around 1.1k-1.5k (trans, axels, ecu, harness etc).

If you pick up a JDM B18b from Hmotorsonline you are looking to spend 2200 on the swap + shipping. A B16a is going to be a lil more, which will put you in the same boat of not wanting to spend over 2k.

Sit on what the car comes with or look for a car that already has a swap in it for 4k. Do yourself a favor and find a stock motor... a built motor for someone just getting their license and learning to drive stick may not be the best option

then keep saving up. first, worry about getting the car first. second, make sure it doesnt get stolen. then you can worry about all the go fast parts you want/wish you could do.

i think the best thing for you to get is....

a clue, or just ask your parents for more cash to put in whatever you want. i know, only being 18, how bad i just "wanna go fast" but its a lot harder then just saying i want this and getting it.
remember, first you have to know what you want. theres d series turbo builds, b16s all around, b18 with vtec, lsboosts and ls vtecs, b20 vtecs, h22 and by all means if you can milk your parents for enough money to swap in a kseries go for it.

but if you cant even drive a car legally, the last thing you need is a fast one.

5 bucks says if this kid ever gets anything quick its going to be wrapped around a tree within a month.

but since i wouldnt recomend a turbo to an unexperienced driver, id say go with an itr b18 and just i/h/e that bitch, and later if you ever want to boost, go for it. that is if you can find/afford one.

check out this thread/sticky.
it was kind of at the top of the board before you posted your question and gives some pretty great info. pros and cons of each engine and what not.

Not to be an @$$ but by the sound of it you dont much about cars...i am taking it you are looking for a nice looking fast car to show off to the ladies at school or something along those lines...well listen kiddo...speaking from experience i was looking for a fast car and a loud system when i was 16 and first getting my license. well i ended up getting a 93 grand am with a nice system in it....two months down the road with my lead foot i hit a tree and about killed myself...spent 10 days in ICU and had severe head trauma.

My suggestion...get the civic and keep it stock until you know how to deal with people on the road and know how to handle situations. keep the d16 in it and toss an intake on it with maybe an exhaust to sound good...maybe some wheels and good suspension....wont be too fast or too slow...and look good at that....great first car with enough speed for a new driver.

I dont know just some advice from experience.
