b18b1 cps swap into ek helpp
hey i have a 97 civic lx, i just put in my b18b1 swap in.
im not getting spark, i've ran the code and the its reading a crank position sensor. thats suposed to be the sensor beside the crank right? so i bought the sensor and i do not see any bolt holes for me to put the crank sensor at by the crank. i have a b18b1 but it has a valve cover from the b18a1 motors. its still obd2 right? im confused because the obd1 motors doesn't have a crank sensor but mines obd2 so it should have one but it doesnt. and sense i have a obd2 motor then i should have it right?
im using my old obd2 harness in my civic, p75 ecu.
a friend of mine told me that i was going to have to switch the oil pump housing from a newer b18b1 motor (the b18's that have the b20 valve cover) but before i do that, should i?
please help.

The CKF (Crank Fluctuation Sensor) is behind the timing cover, if you're planning to run it you need to use a USDM OBD2 oil pump, along with the matching timing cover. About $300 or you can bypass it this way: http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm
You've either got a JDM engine or an OBD1 engine, and honestly it sounds like the latter based on the valve cover. Remember '94 - '95 B18B1s were still OBD1.
Remember there is a CKF (Crankshaft Position Sensor) in the distributor as well. One does not replace the other, USDM OBD2 models have both. What code specifically are you throwing?
