B18 Swap?
HI
I have a Civic Sedan 1992 EG8. Was thinking of doing an engine swap, cause friends says my car is heavy so is better to go for B18 then B16,even later when i change my rims the engine will still support it.
Was wandering if anyone have did an B16 or B18 swap into their sedan?
Cause i am not sure if i should get a hatchback or just stick to this car, cause i already change a new clutch and install a new audio system. And the engine got some problem so is hard for me to sell out in an average price, and dont feel good to sell out a problem car to others.
So,really need advice from you guys or whoever did the swap. Cause really confusing now if is worth it to upgrade the sedan.I know it will cost more to convert into EFI,but beside that, is there any other problems?
THanks.

eg sedan and hatch isnt that heavy. eg hatch weights around 2100~2200 lbs and sedan weights around 2200~2300 LBS. consider 07 civic EX weights about 2700 LBS and which b series are u looking for the swap? b18b or b18c or b18c5 or b16a ..it depends on how much u are willing to spend and if u are doing a b series swap.. you cant use your d series clutch...
i would say if u are on a budget..go with b18b swap... b16a can be fun..will cost around $2000~$2500... b18c1 costs around $2800~$3200 and b18c5 cost around $4000 and up and labor for the swap is arond $500~$700 ...if u know how to do the swap.it will save u some $$$

If your car isn't EFI sell it and buy one that is - period.
An "EFI swap" is not an easy task. you'd need a complete donor EFI car and you'll need the entire electrical body/chassis harness, fuel tank, fuel lines, etc. etc. It's a ******* nightmare.

That time i am just looking at B16A/B16B,but my friends told me if i'm going to change to bigger RIms, it would be better i just go for B18 engine. Is it really much different with the rims?
If going for B18 will be B18C or B18C2, haven really decide yet. But haven heard of B18B here, not sure if is easy to get it here or not.
Ya, i heard about the conversion of EFI...i'm still waiting for the quo from the machanic about the engine conversion labour, as i dont have this kind of skills to do the engine or EFI conversion myself.
I wish to sell the car also, but is hard to sell the car because of the condition (currently engine, gearbox, aircon got problems), only found out the engine problem after i drive it for mnoths.

I have owned a B16A and a B18C1 at thge same time in two identical cars, and the B18C1 was much better all around than the B16A.
Get the B18C.

OK, will try ask around for the half-cut.
I know that B18c is from TYpe-R, and B18C2 is from GS-R, is that a lot diferent? is GS-R type R? Which one got more potential to play with in the future?
Was thinking of getting B18C2 because of the price, but wanna get something that stil can be upgrade in the future, thanks

Re: (winderic)
B18c has more torque than the b16.
as for more potential.. it depends on your plans. do you want to boost? go N/A?
if you want to save some money like me, as well as boost, then go with a b18b maybe
and if you don't like it, build an LS-Vtec from it

Re: (winderic)
I have owned a B18C1 (think B18C2 in your country - GS-R) and it's nothing compared to the Type R.
Actually I have personally owned a B16A2, B18C1, and B18C5 all in a 1992 Si HB chassis and the difference between the GS-R and ITR is night and day. I ran the car at the dragstrip and on the dyno - both swaps had the i/h/e mods, and the numbers were:
B18C1 (GS-R) - 150whp/122ft-lbs. of torque to the wheels - 14.7 1/4 mile time
B18C5 (ITR) - 175whp/128ft-lbs. of torque 13.9 1/4 mile time
Both times were in full interior 1992 Si hatch on regular old street tires at full 32psi or whatever pressure I drove the 70 miles it took to get to my nearest dragstrip. I don't care what anyone has to say to criticise my whp or 1/4 mile times, because it's all relevant. I'm directly comparing engines on the same dyno, same car, same dragstrip under same conditions.

Agreed.
If I could go back and do it over again, I would have bought a 94-95 JDM Integra Si VTEC B18C, or even a B18C-R. The B16's lack of torque is anoying.
