B16 Tranny question
im having problems with shifting in second. when the car/wheels arent moving, the gears go in easily, no prob. but when the car starts running, shifting into second (second gear only) takes more than enough effort. weird. sometimes it shifts easily, most of the time it doesnt. ive changed gear oils already and its still there. theres no grinding sound, but it just seems like something's blocking the shifter when entering second gear. my concern is that i might break the tranny when powershifting.

you will def. screw something up powershifting. Sounds like same prob. I had with my 89 civic. Just douple clutch and rev-match the best you can when shifting. It should help you out. What did I do? I found another tranny.

Re: B16 Tranny question (murtnabila)
This happened to me once and it turned out that my shift leankage was rubbing against my exhaust pipe....it seems somehow my pipeing got bent a bit. If there is no grind and the tranny feels fine check that before you get a new tranny...may save lots of money and it won't hurt to check

Re: B16 Tranny question (92RED Hatch)
hmm.. weird. the gears enter easily at low revs. on high revs, the second gear's having a hard time. what could be the culprit internally?

Re: B16 Tranny question (PADEK454)
firstly, the Honda gearboxes are not designed for powershifting. I blew my B16 box by doing the same thing. If you want to powershift, get a dogbox or straight cut gear box.
Also, what oil are you using. I have heard mixed reports regarding Redline Lightweight Shockproof however no one i know has had any problems with the OEM Honda gear oil. MTF plus.
Bottom line, go a little easier of the box and the poor thing will save you both money and longevity of the box

Adam

Re: B16 Tranny question (Mugen Civic Type R)
i used to powershift easily with my old Si tranny. but when i swapped that tranny with a 4.4 ITR (with the damn helical lsd removed, god knows why), shifting into second gear kinda sucked. i usually get misshifts after takeoff entering into second gear. the oil's Castrol Hypoy B.
